Reports To: Golf Course Superintendent

Position Type: Full-Time / Seasonal

Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Grove Country Club is seeking a dependable and hardworking Golf Course Groundman to join our Golf Course Maintenance team. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily maintenance, conditioning, and presentation of the golf course and surrounding club grounds.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors, and understands the importance of maintaining high standards at a private country club.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Mow greens, tees, fairways, approaches, collars, roughs, and other turf areas.

Perform daily bunker maintenance, including raking, edging, weeding, and maintaining proper sand conditions.

Assist with daily golf course setup, including changing cups, moving tee markers, filling divots, repairing ball marks, and maintaining course accessories.

Operate walk-behind and riding mowers, utility vehicles, bunker rakes, blowers, string trimmers, rollers, and other golf course maintenance equipment.

Assist with aerification, topdressing, verticutting, seeding, sodding, and other turf-management practices.

Hand-water greens, tees, and other turf areas as directed.

Assist with irrigation and drainage repairs and installation.

Maintain landscaping, flower beds, trees, shrubs, and other areas throughout the property.

Perform tree and brush cleanup, leaf removal, and general course cleanup.

Maintain cart paths, course signage, stakes, ropes, benches, and other course features.

Assist with golf course improvement and renovation projects as assigned.

Properly clean and care for equipment after use and report equipment problems promptly.

Maintain clean and organized work areas and maintenance facilities.

Follow all safety procedures and properly use personal protective equipment.

Maintain awareness of golfers and members while performing work on the course and minimize disruption to play whenever possible.

Assist with snow removal and winter projects when applicable.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or designated supervisor.

Qualifications

Previous golf course, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or agricultural experience is preferred but not required.

Experience operating commercial mowing or landscaping equipment is a plus.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Dependable, punctual, and willing to work as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-quality course conditions.

Ability to safely operate golf course maintenance equipment after proper training.

Valid driver's license preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.

Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Ability to safely operate powered equipment and hand tools.

Schedule

Golf course maintenance requires early-morning work. Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime depending on golf schedules, weather, and course conditions.
