Job Summary/Description:

Are you a technical wizard who loves the thrill of live television? Do you have the leadership chops to guide a team while still being the one who can step into the booth and execute a flawless newscast? We’re looking for a Production/Operations Manager who is as comfortable leading people as they are directing a high-stakes live production. At WHSV, we don’t just broadcast; we connect our community across every screen - from the living room TV to the smartphone in their hand. If you’re a scrappy, digital-first leader who thrives on urgency and teamwork, we want to talk with you.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

What You’ll Do:
* Lead the charge: Direct and oversee the production department, ensuring every newscast and station production meets our high standards for quality and innovation.
* Lead by example: Perform the duties of a Technical Media Producer (TMP), directing live and pre-recorded productions with precision and a "digital-first" mindset.
* Master the signal: Monitor station on-air signals, transmitters, and FCC logs to ensure we’re always delivering a trusted, reliable experience to our audience.
* Drive the workflow: Manage the ingestion of daily programming and commercials, keeping our operations running smoothly.
* Execute live events: Run local commercial breaks for live sporting events and direct various elements for our web channel, ensuring a seamless multi-platform experience.
* Foster a team culture: Promote a collaborative, high-energy environment where everyone is motivated to do their best work every single day.
* Our systems: Ross Overdrive automation, Ross production video switcher, MCR/Harris automation, Platinum House routing system, VizRT graphics, Adobe Photoshop,  ENPS, Edius editing software.

Qualification/Requirements:

What You Bring:
* Technical expertise: You know your way around a control room and have a deep understanding of live production and master control operations.
* Leadership grit: You’re a natural leader who can inspire a team, manage schedules, and step in whenever (and wherever) you’re needed most.
* Digital-first mindset: You understand that our audience is everywhere, and you’re ready to ensure our content looks great on every platform.
* Unshakable work ethic: You’re reliable, proactive, and ready to tackle the challenges of a 24/7 news cycle.
* Attention to detail: You don’t miss a beat when it comes to FCC logs, transmitter readings, or timing a live break.
* Flexibility: While you’ll generally work Monday-Friday, you’re the leader - which means you’re ready to jump in on any shift to support your team.
* Collaborative spirit: You value empathy and humor as much as technical skill, and you’re committed to building a supportive, winning team.

Why You’ll Love It Here:
* Real impact: You’re not just pushing buttons; you’re the backbone of the station that keeps the Shenandoah Valley informed and connected.
* Innovation at scale: WHSV and Gray Media are leading the future of local media, and you’ll have the tools and support to innovate across platforms.
* A team that has your back: We’re a group of passionate, hardworking professionals who genuinely enjoy working together and celebrating our wins.
* Growth opportunities: We invest in our leaders and provide the path for you to grow your career within a forward-thinking media company.
