Job description

ABOUT ROCKET LAB
Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more - all with the goal of opening access to space. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation and missions to combat climate change, national security, and exciting new technology demonstrations.
Our Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually and has delivered more than 230 satellites to orbit, all while we work to develop Neutron, our upcoming medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle for larger constellation deployment. Our Space Systems business designs and builds our extensive line of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft that have been selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope.
SECURITY OFFICER
The Security Officer is responsible for administering security services with an emphasis on protection of Rocket Lab assets (premises, possessions, people and infrastructure). This position will be 100% On-Site (not Remote nor Hybrid) based in our Rocket Lab Office.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
  • Oversee the daily management of the security team in order to keep facilities and employees safe and secure
  • Ownership of various security systems including CCTV monitoring, access control, and intruder detection systems
  • Supervise and support the vetting and processing of visitors, contractors and guests
  • Support the coordination of resources related to maintenance, repairs and facility projects
  • Support the management of identification badge fulfillment, processing, and accountability
  • Coordinate response to emergency situations (fire/medical/suspicious person)
  • Handle administrative duties, attend meetings, and perform additional duties as assigned or required by Rocket Lab management
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 6+ years of security industry experience
  • 2+ years of proven experience in security industry direct line management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Basic knowledge of and experience with various security system electronics
  • A valid driver's license
  • CPR and First-Aid training and/or certification
  • Availability to work nights, weekends and special events
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality while performing in highly sensitive roles and missions
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
  • Industrial work experience, preferably in aerospace
  • Previous or current employment with Rocket Lab as an intern, employee or contractor, or work experience at another aerospace company
  • Impeccable character/integrity
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to de-escalate disputes and/or conflict(s)

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We're on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that's not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work, and out-pace. We pride ourselves on having each other's backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and our focus is always on how we can deliver, rather than dwelling on the challenges that stand in the way.
