Job description

Established in 1880, our organization stands as the largest private employer in Los Angeles. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology within the Keck School of Medicine is on the lookout for a fellowship-trained, board-certified academic Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgeon to join us at the assistant or associate professor level. This role is particularly well-suited for a mid-career faculty member. The selected candidate will be part of the Division of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Gynecologic Sub-Specialties, practicing at the Keck Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals. Our department is dedicated to serving the underserved communities in East Los Angeles through our partnership with the Los Angeles General Medical Center (previously known as LAC+USC).

We are in search of a driven individual who has shown clinical excellence. The primary focus of this role will be to enhance the Keck Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery practice, which includes outreach efforts and the development of service-line growth (clinical protocols, referral networks, education, and outreach). A commitment to teaching and training the next generation of gynecologists is essential.

Clinical duties will encompass the outpatient and surgical management of complex cases:

  • Conduct advanced hysteroscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries (such as advanced hysterectomy, myomectomy, endometriosis excision, adhesion lysis, and adnexal surgery).

  • Perform office-based procedures and provide evidence-based medical management.

  • Offer consultations and ongoing care for conditions like fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic pain, abnormal uterine bleeding, and other benign gynecological issues.

  • Collaborate on care pathways, ERAS protocols, and initiatives aimed at quality improvement.

Research responsibilities will involve traditional academic scholarship necessary for promotion, including conducting and supporting research projects, as well as mentoring trainees.

Qualifications:

  • MD degree with completion of a four-year ACGME accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

  • Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

  • Completion of a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery is required.

  • The ideal candidate should apply for a California medical license and be licensed to practice in California by the time of appointment.

  • Proficiency in advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery (da Vinci system) is essential.

The annual base salary for this role ranges from $290,000 to $325,000, with negotiable terms based on qualifications and experience.
