Job description

The First Tech Challenge (FTC) lead teacher is responsible for oversight of the grades 7-8 robotics program. The lead teacher organizes and is responsible for team practices, oversight of robotics fabrication, coding, tournament logistics, team management, ordering, inventory and safety. The lead teacher also supervises both adult TA support and any student workers assigned to the program. The lead teacher reports to the Director of Robotics and works to ensure lab protocol, scheduling, supplies, and safety are in complete sync with facility and school norms.
Position Details:
  • Work Year: 9 Months
  • School Year: 2026-2027, Fall Semester
  • Work Hours: Variable Days between Monday - Thursday after school, two afternoons per week, hours may vary depending on course, 2 to 3 Saturdays.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience.
  • Experience working in a K-12 educational environment.
  • Project a confident, positive, helpful and professional demeanor in working with others, using tact, discretion, and diplomacy at all times.
  • Possess highly effective interpersonal communication skills: verbal, non-verbal, listening and written.
  • Will act as a role model, understanding professional boundaries on and off-the-job, especially when interacting with students, colleagues, parents and other visitors.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment towards continual professional development.
  • Have the ability to take direction and respond positively to feedback from supervisors.
  • Maintain professionalism in attendance, timeliness, conduct, and appearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Industrial Design, Robotics.
  • Three (3) years or more of experience working with Design Technology software and equipment in a K-12 school setting, professional training facility or university setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
