Responsible for the technical leadership, specification, implementation, and commissioning of advanced automation systems supporting highly automated manufacturing operations. The Automation Engineer will establish automation standards, lead machine design reviews, support equipment suppliers, and ensure successful deployment of robotics, controls, vision systems, and automated assembly technologies.
Once process requirements exist:
  • Equipment concepts can be developed
  • RFQs can be written
  • Integrators can be evaluated
  • Machine standards can be defined
  • Controls standards can be defined

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop automation standards for all manufacturing equipment
  • Lead equipment specifications, RFQs, technical reviews, FATs, and SATs
  • Support design and implementation of robotic assembly systems
  • Define controls architecture standards
  • Define machine safety standards
  • Support commissioning and startup activities
  • Manage automation integrators and equipment suppliers
  • Lead troubleshooting during startup and ramp-up phases
  • Develop equipment performance requirements and acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate with Process, Quality, and Industrial Engineering teams

Required Qualifications
  • BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, Electromechanical)
  • 8+ years of automation engineering experience
  • Experience implementing robotic assembly systems
  • Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs
  • Experience with Fanuc robotics
  • Experience with machine vision systems
  • Experience leading FAT and SAT activities
  • Experience managing automation suppliers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Greenfield manufacturing experience
  • Beverage dispensing or consumer product assembly experience
  • MES integration experience
  • Industrial networking experience
  • Functional safety experience
