Senior Embedded Systems Engineer (Wireless Product Development) About the Role
As an Embedded Systems Engineer at PassiveLogic, youโll co-lead the development of our suite of wireless products, from zero to manufacture. Youโll collaborate closely with the electrical, mechanical, industrial design, and verification/validation (V&V) teams to deliver robust, innovative solutions. This role demands a disciplined, independent leader with stellar embedded software skills, a systems-level mindset and the ability to self-teach and solve tough problems. You will contribute to shaping the product vision, drive its execution, and ensure it meets our standards for quality and efficiency.
About PassiveLogicยฎ
PassiveLogic is the first fully autonomous platform for buildings. Weโve reinvented the fundamental principles of automation to democratize technology, optimize buildings, and reduce the worldโs carbon footprint. We are a team of technologists, engineers, and creatives dedicated to making a sustainable impact through real-world solutions.
We are looking for team members who have a passion for technology and who want to work on cuttingโedge problems with realโworld solutions. Our culture is built on bringing together the most talented engineers, thinkers, and creativesโbacked by the worldโs leading investorsโworking together to make the future a reality.
What youโll do
Develop embedded systems: Lead the end-to-end development of ultra-low-power wireless devices, from architecture design to high-volume production. Write and optimize production-ready C code for embedded systems running TI-RTOS and Zephyr RTOS.
Develop proprietary sub-Gig wireless protocol: Lead the architecture, implementation, and refinement of a custom sub-GHz wireless protocol. Evaluate technical tradeoffs present throughout the development process.
Optimization and systems engineering: Apply math and physics expertise for power accounting and systems-of-systems optimization in resource-constrained environments.
Test and validate embedded systems: Design and implement HIL/SIL testing frameworks to validate robust, fail-safe code before V&V handoff. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and industrial design teams to maintain product visionalignment.
Develop software and version control: Leverage Git for version control, maintaining clean, modular codebases and streamlined team workflows; Use Python, Bash, and Linux to automate workflows, analyze data, and enhance development processes.
Integrate hardware and debug software: Perform handsโon board bringโup and system debugging to integrate hardware and software seamlessly.
What youโll bring
You Must Have
Proven Experience:
-
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldโor proven exceptional ability through experience.
-
6+ years in embedded software development, with deep expertise in C and real-time operating systems (TI-RTOS, Zephyr RTOS).
-
Proficiency in Git for version control, collaboration, and maintaining high-quality codebases.
-
Strong skills in Python, Bash, and Linux for scripting and system management.
-
Track record of delivering high-quality, production-grade code with rigorous HIL/SIL testing.
-
Strong systems-level thinking for ultra-low-power wireless designs, backed by solid math and physics fundamentals.
Exceptional Communication Skills: An ability to document/communicate clearly to effectively lead, mentor, and align teams.
Organized and Strategic: An organized, structured approach to complex project leadership and an enthusiasm for owning work within the context of the big picture.
Collaborative Mindset: You thrive in cross-disciplinary teams, knowing the best hardware is built when everyoneโs brainpower is in the mix.
Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment, eager to learn, iterate, and innovate.
Problem solving: You own this role. When issues arise, be the empowered force that solves them, rollingโup to product management and leadership.
A self-driven curious mindset: Able to independently research, learn, and solve complex challenges. Experiencewith (or a desire to explore) setting up and deploying AI-assisted testing systems is a bonus.
