Job description

Agile Robots is a global leader in industrial and humanoid robotics and physical AI, integrating advanced machine learning and robotic vision to redefine the future of work. Headquartered in Munich with a global workforce of 3,200+, we are now establishing our North American footprint.

We are a rapidly growing world-class team, constantly on the cutting edge of what’s possible in AI-driven robotics and automation, creating fast time-to-market solutions for the automotive, consumer electronics, healthcare and service industries. Our products are known for their precision, reliability, and ease of integration. We are actively recruiting engineering professionals with a solid foundational background in advanced automation to scale our operations and support the deployment of our cutting-edge robotic systems.

We are seeking a motivated, hands-on and technically capable Robot Service & Support Engineer. You will serve as a technical contact for customers, performing deployment, operation, and physical repairs of our robotic systems. This role is a unique blend of digital troubleshooting and hands-on electromechanical service and repair. Our team works closely with R&D and customers to ensure robots operate reliably in real-world environments.

Requirements

Key responsibilities

  • Learning & Development: Participate in intensive training programs covering robot kinematics, electrical control systems, and proprietary software. Work toward becoming a subject matter expert in the mechanical assembly and disassembly of our robotic systems.
  • Tier 1 Technical Support: Provide initial responses to customer inquiries via phone and email. Assist in diagnosing basic mechanical and software issues, escalating complex cases to Tier 2/3 support as needed.
  • Hands-on Service & Repair: Perform on-site and in-house repairs, including replacing motors, sensors, cabling, and structural components. Conduct preventative maintenance checks to ensure hardware longevity.
  • Diagnostic Assistance: Utilize schematics, test equipment, and diagnostic log files to identify root causes for performance issues and system failures.
  • Documentation: Assist in the creation of "lessons learned" reports and internal service notes. Update FAQ articles based on common entry-level troubleshooting queries.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Shadow senior engineers during site visits and collaborative meetings with Manufacturing and R&D to understand the product lifecycle and common field challenges.
  • Inventory & Tools Management: Maintain the local service kit and tools, ensuring all diagnostic equipment is calibrated and spare parts are organized for rapid deployment.

Experience & Attributes

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in technical or robotics-related service and support roles.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with basic electrical circuits, hand tools, electromechanical troubleshooting, log analysis and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, or PLC logic).
  • Problem-Solving: A "tinkerer" mindset with a strong desire to take things apart and understand how they work.
  • Communication: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to customer sites, locally and throughout the U.S., for hands-on service, training, systems installation and commissioning.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision insurance, and 401k.
  • Generous paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning in cutting-edge robotics technology.
