Job Description

As an Automation Sales Engineer - RBTX, you will serve as both a technical advisor and customer-facing sales professional, helping customers evaluate, select, and implement automation solutions that meet their operational and business objectives. You will work closely with customers, system integrators, engineering teams, and industry partners to develop practical, cost-effective automation concepts utilizing robots, linear systems, gantries, machine vision, end-of-arm tooling, and complementary technologies available through the RBTX marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and exceed individual and team growth objectives through sales of RBTX and Low Cost Automation solutions while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Serve as the primary technical and commercial point of contact throughout the customer journey, from initial inquiry through deployment and support.
  • Qualify inbound leads and proactively identify new business opportunities through digital platforms, networking, trade shows, referrals, and direct outreach.
  • Engage with customers to understand manufacturing processes, operational challenges, and automation requirements.
  • Analyze customer applications and develop automation concepts that improve productivity, reduce costs, and optimize process performance.
  • Provide technical recommendations utilizing robots, linear robots, gantries, machine vision, gripping systems, and automation components available through the RBTX marketplace and igus LCA portfolio.
  • Prepare and present technical proposals, quotations, automation concepts, ROI analyses, and project recommendations.
  • Collaborate with customers, internal engineering teams, product management, production, global support teams, and external technology partners to develop complete automation solutions.
  • Manage automation opportunities and projects from specification through implementation, ensuring milestones and customer expectations are achieved.
  • Coordinate project timelines, technical requirements, resources, and communications among stakeholders.
  • Support proof-of-concept development, demonstrations, customer testing, and application validation activities.
  • Assist customers with system selection, integration considerations, and deployment planning.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity, customer, and project information within Salesforce and other CRM tools.
  • Stay informed on emerging automation technologies, robotics trends, and industry developments to provide innovative and competitive solutions.
  • Support sales enablement activities by providing technical training and application support to internal sales teams.
  • Represent igus, RBTX, and Low Cost Automation solutions at customer visits, trade shows, technical seminars, and industry events.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, application engineering, technical sales, or a related field.
  • Experience working directly with customers to identify challenges and develop technical solutions.
  • Strong mechanical and automation aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing processes and automation applications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time management abilities.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and results-driven mindset.
