AUTOMATION ROBOTICS ENGINEER
COMSTOCK PARK, MICHIGAN - LEAR ASI AUTOMATION DIVISION

Lear Automation is seeking a highly skilled Fanuc Robotics Programmer to design, develop, and optimize robotic automation paths and logic. In this role, you will lead the programming, debugging, and commissioning of industrial robotic cells utilizing Fanuc platforms. You will work closely with Controls Engineers and mechanical design teams to integrate robots into complex manufacturing systems, ensuring maximum cycle-time efficiency and workplace safety

Technical Competencies:

  • Certification: Fanuc-approved training certifications (HandlingTool, Roboguide, iRVision, or DCS) are highly preferred
  • Develop and write structured robot application code from scratch using Fanuc Teach Pendant (TP) and Karel programming languages.
  • Build, test, and validate offline robotic programs and simulation cells using Fanuc Roboguide software before physical deployment.
  • Configure and define User Frames, Tool Frames (TCP), and payload schedules accurately.
  • Implement and test advanced safety zoning via Fanuc Dual Check Safety (DCS) / Position Speed Check configurations
  • Establish communication interfaces between Fanuc controllers and master PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) over EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, or DeviceNet
  • Proficient with Fanuc Teach Pendant navigation and program structure.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation network protocols and I/O handshakes.
  • Competency in mechanical/electrical drawing layouts and reading schematics.
  • Familiarity with common applications like material handling, palletizing, or dispensing
  • Completion of Automation risk assessments
  • Willingness to travel in North America - time traveling can be up to 50%.
  • Team Development
  • Mentor and Train plant controls engineers and support production as needed.
  • Communicate across cross functional groups
  • Support Kaizen, Improvement walks, and Error proofing projects

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's in engineering or associates degree in Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field

5+ years' experience in a similar role

Bonus Experience:

 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) experience

 Vision- experience with robot guided vision systems
