Navico Group- Tulsa, OK -Software Engineering Intern

Position Overview:

We are seeking Software Engineering Interns to support the development of Navico Group's Trolling Motors, which are developed and launched in our facilities around the world. This position will be based in our Tulsa, Oklahoma location and is primarily associated with Lowrance and Simrad brands within the Navico Group. This position reports to the software engineering lead. The main responsibility will be to support the software development of Navico Group's trolling motors. Activities will include supporting concept and design development of Navico Group's trolling motors, including prototype development, product testing, and analyzing performance data. The person in this role will use software development tools to fix bugs/issues reported through Jira on existing products in the field.

As a team member within the global SW team, you will also contribute towards and drive improvements to our development processes and software architecture and you'll have the opportunity to work across a range of modules within the Navico Software stack with oversight from Senior developers within the team.

Essential Functions:

  • Mentorship from seasoned Software Engineers
  • Embedded system programming in Navico Group Products
  • Building, testing, and analyzing software
  • Analyzing data sheets by locating and interpreting provided information from manufacturers on electronic components
  • Bug fixing
  • On-water product testing
  • Performing minor modifications to existing HW or new prototype HW bring-up
  • This internship will be a full-time commitment from May to August with potential for part-time work during the school semesters

Internship Projects to include:

  • Support sustaining software build releases for existing products
  • Learn CAN bus and N2K communication
  • Learn Bluetooth communication
  • Learn to develop algorithms in C++
  • Learn messaging across a network between devices on a boat.
  • Understand positioning using vector mathematics

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • An engineering student with at least 80 credits working towards a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong C/C++ development and debugging skills
  • Embedded development experience
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Jira, Figma, Github, Python experience a plus
  • Android, Kotlin, and Java experience a plus
  • Basic knowledge of electronic measurement equipment, mainly multimeter and oscilloscope.
  • The ability to coordinate numerous projects in a professional and ethical manner
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred
  • Boating, fishing and/or marine industry experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Good interpersonal skills

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
