Job description

The Business Development Manager for Western US is responsible for sales, and to formulate and implement strategies to maximize sales results. General responsibilities include sales developing account plans and strategies, prospecting new customers, qualifying and closing leads. The individual will establish and maintain key relationships with direct and indirect customers, and other industry participants while working with groups with Mercury Tech Partners to extend the Company’s offerings. Successful candidates must have relevant experience in technology sales and extensive experience selling services to a variety of decision makers.

This position will be remote from our Corporate office in North Carolina, ideally located in a major metropolitan area in CA, WA or CO. Other locations West of Texas will be considered based on meeting requirements.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all sales and commercial negotiations. The specific responsibilities of the position will include, but not be limited to:

  • Meet and exceed sales targets; achieve maximum sales by creating end-user demand for MTP’s services through direct and indirect sales activities.
  • Develop individual account plans and strategies to acquire new accounts.
  • Lead sales effort through targeted customer visits to key decision makers, RFP response development, and the coordination of third-party solution providers.
  • Identify and address customer objections during sales process and work with other members of the team to overcome customer objections.
  • Monitor and manage sales pipeline to ensure opportunities are being advanced and closed.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to coordinate expectations for delivery.
  • Proactively identify customer service issues. Escalate and actively participate in the problem resolution process within the Company.
  • Collect and provide feedback on industry competition.
  • Ensure Company is properly supporting end users/customers. Validate through customer visits and strong customer relationships.
  • Ongoing communication with prospects, customers and partners to maintain a high degree of industry knowledge.      


Other:

  • Provide regular activity reports in a timely manner, sales forecasts and other reports as required.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis in order to meet the overall objectives of the Sales Department or Company.


BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate has worked in sales to major retailers, automation and / or technology field services. The candidate should have a track record of meeting & exceeding goals consistently, familiar with working with large multi-site customers and demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and networking skills.


Minimum requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university.
  • 10+ years of sales in markets such as retail (real estate or construction), technology services, industrial automation, connected factory, networking / networks, security systems.
  • Must be able to show a proven track record of consistently exceeding corporate objectives and quotas.


Additional requirements include:

  • A self-starter with a will-to-win.
  • Must convey strong customer commitment and have a proven history in excelling in a fast-paced, professional environment.
  • Exceptional work ethic. Uses time productively, is focused on right opportunities, maximizes efficiency, and meets challenging work goals.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Must be able to work effectively without close supervision and function as a member of a team of professionals.
  • Discretion, common sense and attention to detail are a must.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve problems and situations and recommend solutions.
  • Knowledge of companies across several market verticals including but not limited to transportation, utility, security, point of sale, etc.
  • Travel domestic 40% of the time.
  • This position will remote with quarterly visits to our Conover, NC office.
