Job description

RPA Developer

Pay Rate: $55-$70/hour About the Team and the Environment

This role sits within a centralized AI Engineering and Automation Center of Excellence responsible for delivering enterprise-scale automation solutions across a large, distributed North American organization.

This is a mature, production-scale environment, not a pilot program or proof-of-concept operation:

  • Approximately 125 unattended production robots and more than 200 automations currently in service
  • Approximately 66 UiPath execution machines
  • More than 19,000 automation jobs executed every 30 days
  • Automations supporting business-critical functions including claims processing, policy administration, financial reconciliation, compliance reporting, and operational workflows

Technology Stack:

  • UiPath (primary automation platform)
  • Microsoft Power Platform
  • Anthropic Claude
  • ServiceNow
  • Bitbucket
  • Azure DevOps

The organization is actively expanding into AI-assisted and agentic automation patterns, meaning this role will support both an established automation ecosystem and next-generation intelligent automation initiatives.

Positioning the Opportunity

This is a hands-on engineering role within a mature production environment that offers a genuine path into applied AI engineering and intelligent automation.

It is:

  • A build-and-support engineering position with meaningful production ownership
  • An opportunity to work on both traditional RPA and emerging AI-enabled automation solutions
  • A role focused on developing new automation capabilities while supporting existing production workloads

It is not:

  • An AI research position
  • A greenfield-only innovation role
  • A maintenance-only support position

What the Person Will Do
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy production-grade automations primarily using UiPath across multiple business functions and operational areas
  • Build and maintain complex bot architectures, including multi-system integrations, structured exception handling, retry logic, and recovery patterns
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production automation failures with minimal downtime while partnering with analysts, engineers, and architects
  • Extend automation capabilities beyond UI-based RPA using Python, PowerShell, REST APIs, and webhook integrations
  • Integrate AI services into automation workflows, including document understanding, classification, and large language model interactions
  • Develop solutions using a Power Platform front-end and automation back-end delivery model
  • Contribute reusable components, templates, and integration patterns while participating in peer code reviews
  • Implement logging, audit trails, monitoring, and compliance-ready documentation for all production automations

Must Have

These are required screening criteria. Candidates missing any of these requirements should not be considered a fit.

  1. Three or more years of hands-on RPA development experience using UiPath as the primary automation platform
  2. Demonstrated experience supporting production-grade automations, including:
    • Exception handling
    • Logging
    • Error recovery
    • Multi-system integration
    • Production support
  3. Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and manipulation within automation workflows
  4. Current UiPath Developer Certification (see Certification section)
  5. Experience operating in an Agile delivery environment, including:
    • Daily standups
    • Sprint planning
    • Retrospectives
  6. Authorized to work in the United States on a W-2 basis without sponsorship and physically located within the United States for the duration of the engagement

Preferred

These qualifications strengthen a candidate's profile but are not required.

  • Python scripting for automation, data manipulation, and API integrations
  • PowerShell for orchestration, automation, and environment management
  • Hands-on REST API and webhook integration experience
  • Microsoft Power Platform experience, including Power Automate and Power Apps
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as Anthropic Claude, UiPath Autopilot, or GitHub Copilot
  • Exposure to:
    • Agentic automation
    • Intelligent document processing
    • Document understanding
    • Process mining
    • Task mining
  • Experience with Automation Anywhere or other enterprise RPA platforms
  • Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices
  • Jira or Azure DevOps for backlog and delivery management
  • Experience supporting regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, healthcare, or similar enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as:
    • Applied Epic
    • Vertafore
    • Microsoft Dynamics 365
    • Workday
    • Oracle Fusion
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience

Certifications Required
  • UiPath Certified Professional (UCP) - Automation Developer Associate

Preferred
  • UiPath Certified Professional (UCP) - Automation Developer Professional (formerly Advanced RPA Developer)

Also Preferred
  • UiPath Agentic Automation Associate or Professional
  • UiPath Specialized AI Associate or Professional
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications such as PL-400 or current Copilot/Agent-related certifications

Legacy Credential Note

Candidates holding retired UiPath certifications such as:

  • UiRPA (RPA Associate)
  • UiARD (Advanced RPA Developer)

may still be considered.

These certifications expire on October 15, 2026. If presented, note the expiration date and confirm the candidate's plan for transitioning to a current certification path.

Do not describe UiRPA or UiARD as current credentials.

Certification Guidance

Do not use the following as target certifications:

  • PL-500 (retiring June 30, 2026)
  • PL-600 (retiring June 30, 2026)
  • PL-200 (retiring August 31, 2026)

as they are being retired and are no longer strategic certification targets.
