Employment type: Full-time, Regular

Type: Individual Contributor

About Dexterity

Dexterity is the enterprise Physical AI company building intelligent robots for complex industrial work.

Dexterity's Mech systems combine Foresight world model, robotics, and Physical AI platform to perform demanding logistics workflows, including trailer loading, trailer unloading, airport baggage handling, etc. at the speed, reliability, and safety levels required for high-volume operations. Dexterity's Foresight World Model powers real-time perception, planning, and execution across physical environments with the interpretability required for industrial deployment. Dexterity is headquartered in Redwood City, California.

Dexterity is backed by world-class investors such as Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Obvious Ventures. We are a diverse and multidisciplinary team with a culture built on passion, trust, and dedication.

The Role

Dexterity is seeking a Forward Deployed Transformation Lead (Physical AI) to lead onsite Physical AI deployment execution for a major customer program in the Hagerstown, Maryland area.

This role serves as the operational leader responsible for coordinating site readiness, installation, commissioning, training, operational handoff, and customer adoption. You will work across Customer Success, Product, Field Engineering, Field Services, Support, Commercial, and customer operations teams to ensure successful deployment and long-term operational success.

Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, disciplined execution, customer-facing leadership, and the ability to translate complex deployment plans into measurable operational outcomes.

This is a highly visible role where your decisions will directly influence deployment quality, customer trust, operational readiness, and Dexterity's ability to scale Physical AI systems in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an integrated execution plan across site readiness, installation, commissioning, training, support readiness, and operational handoff activities.

  • Lead day-to-day coordination with systems integrators, subcontractors, vendors, customer stakeholders, and internal Dexterity teams. This also includes management and coordination with Dexterity's partners to enable successful solution deployment.

  • Drive execution accountability through structured tracking of owners, milestones, blockers, risks, and escalations.

  • Review technical documentation including Statements of Work (SOWs), engineering drawings, requirements documents, responsibility matrices, commissioning plans, safety documentation, and acceptance criteria.

  • Audit field execution against approved technical requirements and project scope.

  • Manage deployment punch lists and drive closure through documented evidence and verification.

  • Validate completion evidence including commissioning reports, inspection records, test results, training completion records, customer signoffs, and acceptance documentation.

  • Identify and resolve gaps between reported completion status and actual operational readiness.

  • Track schedule performance, critical-path dependencies, scope risks, and deployment readiness metrics.

  • Escalate issues proactively with clear recommendations and recovery plans.

  • Partner with customer operations leaders to support decisions involving workflow design, staffing, throughput objectives, operating windows, and system utilization.

  • Capture deployment lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of Dexterity deployment methodologies and playbooks.

  • This role begins with end-to-end ownership of a major customer deployment and offers opportunities to expand across multiple sites, regions, and customers as Dexterity continues to scale.

Qualifications Required

  • 7-10 years of experience leading complex technical deployments involving robotics, industrial automation, warehouse automation, material handling systems, or similar industrial environments.

  • Experience operating at a Manager, Site Execution Lead, Technical Program Manager, Deployment Manager, Operations Manager, or similar leadership level.

  • Strong technical literacy across robotics, automation, controls, electrical and mechanical systems, industrial equipment, or comparable technologies.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, commissioning plans, acceptance criteria, and project documentation.

  • Experience managing vendors, systems integrators, contractors, field service providers, and installation teams.

  • Proven ability to assess technical readiness and operational readiness independently.

  • Strong project execution, risk management, and escalation management skills.

  • Excellent communication skills with technical teams, customer stakeholders, site leadership, and executive audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance operational objectives, customer needs, safety requirements, and deployment timelines.

  • Willingness to be onsite regularly throughout deployment, commissioning, and stabilization activities.

Qualifications Preferred

  • Experience in parcel, logistics, fulfillment, warehouse, distribution center, or high-throughput industrial environments.

  • Prior responsibility for day-to-day operational performance in warehouse or industrial settings.

  • Experience with robotics systems, PLCs, industrial controls, safety systems, MHE, WMS/WES integrations, commissioning, or site acceptance testing.

  • PMP, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related certifications.

  • Experience supporting go-live readiness, customer acceptance testing, hypercare, or operational stabilization programs.

What Makes You Successful

  • Strong execution discipline and accountability.

  • Excellent technical judgment and attention to detail.

  • Credibility with both operational and technical stakeholders, both internally and externally.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive decisions.

  • Customer-first mindset with a focus on operational outcomes.

  • Structured communication and proactive escalation practices.

  • Bias toward action, ownership, and closure.

Compensation

Base pay is one component of Dexterity's total rewards package, which may also include equity, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, and other compensation elements depending on eligibility.

The annual base salary range for this position is $160,000-$180,000 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, scope of expertise, overall qualifications, and internal equity.
