Job Description
Serving as a senior technology leader for Raymond James' enterprise automation and RPA capabilities, the Director will be accountable for the strategy, architecture, delivery, governance, and ongoing evolution of the firm's automation platforms and operating model. This role combines strong technical understanding with execution leadership, owning both the definition of the target-state automation ecosystem and the successful delivery of scalable, secure, and measurable automation solutions.
The Director will lead the continued maturity of the automation function, including RPA, workflow automation, process orchestration, intelligent automation, and AI-enabled automation opportunities. This individual will be responsible for strengthening the automation roadmap, improving delivery discipline, expanding reusable capabilities, and ensuring automation efforts are aligned to business value, operational risk, compliance, and enterprise technology standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technology leader with deep automation experience, strong delivery discipline, and a proven track record of building and scaling automation capabilities in a complex enterprise environment. They will lead and mentor a high-performing team of automation engineers, architects, analysts, and leaders, while fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and measurable business impact.
This role requires strong partnership across business, product, operations, architecture, risk, compliance, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities, prioritize the highest-value work, reduce operational friction, and deliver solutions that improve speed, quality, efficiency, and control across the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Own the enterprise automation and RPA capability, including platform strategy, solution architecture, delivery execution, governance, and ongoing operational stability.
  • Accountable for delivery of key automation initiatives, ensuring execution against roadmap commitments with high quality, predictability, and measurable business value.
  • Define and execute multi-year automation roadmaps, translating business needs and operational pain points into actionable delivery plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the modernization and expansion of the automation ecosystem, including RPA, workflow automation, API-based automation, process orchestration, intelligent document processing, and AI-enabled automation opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on solution leadership, guiding design decisions across automation patterns, platform usage, reusable components, integrations, exception handling, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Ensure automation solutions meet enterprise standards for security, resiliency, auditability, compliance, maintainability, and operational risk management.
  • Partner with business and operations leaders to identify automation opportunities, assess value, prioritize demand, and ensure automation investments are focused on meaningful outcomes.
  • Lead and mentor automation engineers, architects, analysts, and emerging leaders, strengthening the team's technical depth, delivery capability, and leadership bench.
  • Establish and reinforce a culture of ownership, accountability, engineering discipline, documentation, production readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee cross-functional delivery across automation engineering, QA, architecture, operations, risk, compliance, and external partners to ensure consistent execution and long-term supportability.
  • Drive stronger measurement of automation value, including productivity gains, cycle-time reduction, risk reduction, defect reduction, capacity creation, and improved associate or client experience.
  • Support the broader AI-driven IT strategy by identifying where automation, AI, and process improvement can work together to improve how technology and business teams operate.

Technical Skills / Experience:
  • More than ten (10) years of relevant technology experience, including leadership of automation, engineering, or enterprise platform teams.
  • Deep experience with RPA and enterprise automation platforms, including bot development, automation design, orchestration, monitoring, exception handling, and production support.
  • Proven experience building and scaling automation capabilities across a large enterprise, including intake, prioritization, delivery governance, reuse, controls, and value tracking.
  • Strong understanding of process automation patterns, including attended and unattended automation, workflow automation, API-based automation, system integration, and process orchestration.
  • Experience modernizing automation approaches from task-based RPA toward more resilient, API-driven, event-driven, and AI-enabled automation models.
  • Strong background in delivery leadership, including roadmap planning, execution management, stakeholder alignment, dependency management, and production accountability.
  • Experience operating in regulated financial services or another highly controlled environment, with a strong understanding of risk, compliance, audit, security, and change management expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior business and technology leaders to identify opportunities, manage priorities, communicate tradeoffs, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to operate across strategic planning and hands-on technical leadership, with credibility at both executive and engineering levels.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, mentoring technical talent, and building a culture focused on quality, ownership, delivery, and continuous improvement.
