Automation Solution Architect - Laurel, MD (Hybrid, Contract-to-Hire)
About the Role
Join a brand-new automation team as the first and most senior technical hire, driving the hands-on architecture and development of cutting-edge RPA solutions. This is a contract-to-hire position with the opportunity to become a technical lead and mentor as the team grows. You'll shape the automation strategy from the ground up, working directly with leadership and building impactful automations using UiPath and the broader RPA ecosystem. This role is based in Laurel, MD with a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite per week). No visa sponsorship is available; candidates must be authorized to work in the US.
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop robust automation frameworks and workflows with a focus on UiPath
- Build, deploy, and optimize both attended and unattended bots, leveraging Document Understanding and advanced UiPath features
- Integrate RPA solutions with other enterprise technologies and tools
- Serve as the hands-on technical lead, owning end-to-end delivery of automation projects
- Mentor and guide incoming team members as the department grows
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and deliver high-impact solutions
- Maintain deep technical ownership and accountability for all automations developed
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong development background with hands-on expertise in building end-to-end RPA solutions
- Extensive, demonstrable experience using UiPath (preferred), with multiple bots built and deployed
- Deep knowledge of attended and unattended bots, Document Understanding (DU), and UiPath's advanced capabilities
- Experience integrating RPA solutions with broader automation ecosystems
- Bachelor's degree required
- Proven technical ownership of automation projects and ability to go deep on technical details
- Must be local to Laurel, MD, or clearly willing to commute/relocate 3 days per week (hybrid required)
- Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now and in the future
Preferred Skills
- UiPath Solution Architect Certification and/or UiPath Advanced Developer Certification
- Experience with Automation Anywhere or Blue Prism
- Additional RPA or industry certifications
