Job description

Job Title:  Construction Grade Foreman - Hampton Roads

Department:  Construction / Grading

Reports to:  Project Superintendent 

Major Role and Purpose:

  • To ensure the overall success of any job or project assigned through efficient management of time, personnel, and cost. Organize and lead a crew to perform grading activities safely and efficiently.                                                                                                               
Description of Duties:                                                                                                                   
  • Coordinate construction work according to plans.
  • Assign and supervise daily activities of construction personnel.                                                                           
  • Coordinate and schedule trucks and equipment to job site.   
  • Ensure labor and other resources are adequate.
  • Supervise and train workers.                                                                              
  • Prepare and maintain required reports.         
  • Assist the Project Superintendent with daily records, events, and conditions.
  • Plan, assign and direct work; address complaints and resolve problems.                                                          
  • Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance on equipment.                                                  
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures.                          
  • Prepare assessment of any damages and arrange for necessary preparations.
  • Review, verify and submit timecards to payroll.     
  • Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.                                                             
Education:         
  • High School Diploma / GED.                                                                                                                
Work Experience/Qualifications:                                                                                                                            
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in highway and road construction and asphalt paving.
  • Proven experience as a construction foreman.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a positive driving record. 
  • Ability to access military bases.           
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.                                                         
Physical Demands:
  • Job requires the following motions: driving, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, pulling/pushing, and lifting.
  • Required to drive.
