Job description

Job Summary:
This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care, Level II Trauma Center ICU. The RN will provide skilled nursing care to critically ill patients, requiring experience in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and management of various medical conditions. A minimum of two years of experience is required.
Location: Decatur, Illinois, United States,
Responsibilities:
- Providing direct patient care in a 20-bed ICU unit with a 1:5 patient-to-nurse ratio.
- Performing comprehensive patient assessments, administering medications, and developing treatment plans.
- Managing various medical conditions including acute and chronic renal failure, CVA/acute stroke, and cardiac events.
- Managing and interpreting cardiac rhythms, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, and performing pre/post cardiac catheterization care.
- Administering IV therapy, including accessing ports, managing arterial lines, administering blood products, and managing central and PICC lines.
- Managing respiratory support, including BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management, and high-flow nasal cannula.
- Interpreting ABGs and performing suctioning.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Working every other weekend.
- Floating to other units as needed.
- Adhering to infection prevention and isolation precautions.
- Responding to code blue/rapid response situations.
- Charting in Cerner.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum of two years of ICU experience.
- ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications.
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
- Experience with pre/post cardiac cath/intervention.
- Experience with chronic/acute renal failure.
- Proficiency in IV therapy (accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs).
- Experience with continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips.
- Experience with CVA/acute stroke management.
- Proficiency in respiratory/thoracic care (BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management, high-flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, suctioning).
- Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
Special Considerations:
- Night shift (6 PM - 6:30 AM).
- Every other weekend requirement.
- Floating within the ICU as needed.
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
- No on-call requirement.
- Maximum 5-day return-to-office (RTO) restriction.
- Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without penalty; additional cancellations will be billed.
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills are required.
Scheduling:
- Night shift (6 PM - 6:30 AM).
- Every other weekend rotation.
- Schedule requests are discussed with the manager.
