Description:
40hrs per pp 6:45a-515p variable
Varying Days of the week depending on Surgery Schedule and needs for FA role.
Provides quality nursing care to assigned perioperative patients through the use of the nursing process. Accountable for all care delivered throughout the perioperative period until discharged. Maintains the standard of nursing practice and function within the limits of THMH policies as well as the Michigan Nurse Practice Act.
Carries out functions to assist the surgeon in performing safe operations with optimal outcomes for the patient.
The RN First Assistant practices perioperative nursing and has acquired the knowledge, skill, and judgment necessary to assist the surgeon, through organized supervision of the surgeon during the first assisting phase of the perioperative role. The RN First Assistant does not concurrently function as a scrub nurse.
