Schedule: Full time 40 hours

The Reentry Services Program Driver plays a critical role in supporting justice-involved adults who are living in and returning to communities throughout Worcester, Middlesex and Essex Counties. This position ensures safe, respectful, and dependable transportation for individuals served by Reentry Services, on the day of their release from state and county correctional facilities, helping them reach predetermined destinations and begin their reentry journey with stability and dignity.

In addition to day-of-release transportation, the Program Driver supports members who are living in the community by providing access to vital services, including medical appointments, medication and grocery pickups, food and housing resources, RMV visits, substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, and other wraparound community-based supports. The driver creates a welcoming, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed environment, offering appropriate assistance and encouragement throughout each trip.

Responsibilities
  • Operate agency vehicle safely and in accordance with traffic laws and organizational policies.
  • Transport members who are released from correctional institutions to residences, treatment programs, and sober homes located within Middlesex and Essex Counties.
  • Transport members to and from appointments, including parole/probation check-ins, medical care, counseling, employment opportunities, housing interviews, RMV and community programs.
  • Provide supportive and respectful interactions with individuals who may be experiencing stress, anxiety, or uncertainty during their transition.
  • Assist passengers with mobility, boarding, and securing seatbelts or mobility devices when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, attendance, and any incidents.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety (brakes, tires, fuel, emergency equipment, etc.).
  • Report any behavioral or safety concerns to the program leadership in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Promote dignity, self-determination, and nonjudgmental support for all persons served by Reentry Services.
  • Participate in trauma-informed care, de-escalation, boundaries, and reentry-focused training sessions.
  • Coordinate scheduling with program staff to support member transportation needs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree required.  
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License for a period of at least 3+ years.
  • Driving record sufficient to meet company insurance standards updated annually
  • Ability to adhere to all Massachusetts driving laws, 
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally in a professional manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, and work independently with minimal supervision and flexible with hours.
  • Strongly prefer a candidate that will have a demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to read and speak English.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and have access to an operational and insured vehicle.
