Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Finance Intern will support the FP&A team in financial analysis, strategic planning, and performance measurement initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in corporate finance, profitability analysis, investment evaluation, and balance sheet management while working closely with finance leaders on projects that influence organizational decision-making.


WHAT YOU WILL DO: (in descending order of importance)

  1. Supports ALM initiatives by analyzing balance sheet trends, interest rate risk, liquidity, and funding strategies.
  2. Assists with corporate finance projects, including return on investment (ROI), internal rate of return (IRR), payback period, and capital allocation analyses.
  3. Performs profitability analyses for products, services, projects, business units, and strategic initiatives.
  4. Develops financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support management decision-making.
  5. Gathers, validates, and analyzes financial and operational data using Excel, reporting tools, and enterprise systems.
  6. Prepares reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and executive leadership.
  7. Participates in special projects related to budgeting, strategic planning, performance measurement, and financial process improvement.
  8. Performs all other duties as assigned by department leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or related field.


Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

  1. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with keen attention to detail required.
  2. Knowledge of financial concepts, including financial statements, ROI, profitability analysis, discounted cash flow, and IRR calculations.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (match, index, vlookup, sumif, etc.) required; experience with programming (Visual Basic, R, Python, Stata, etc.) preferred..
  4. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) preferred.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  6. Coursework in corporate finance, investments, banking, economics, or financial modeling.
  7. Must have a strong service orientation in alignment with the credit union's mission and core values.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment required.
