Job description

Mister Car Wash is rewriting the rules of the car wash industry. Headquartered in Tucson, Arizona, we are the nation's largest and fastest growing multibillion dollar car wash company with over 500 car washes in 21 states!

We wash cars for the fun of it. We put people first. We help turn jobs into careers.

The Risk Management Specialist supports the Company's insurance, claims, and risk management programs through a combination of program administration, claims oversight, insurance compliance review, reporting, and risk-related analysis. The position serves as a key resource in the administration of claims and insurance programs, working closely with internal stakeholders, insurance brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators. This role exercises independent judgment in reviewing claims activity, evaluating insurance and risk management information, identifying issues requiring follow-up or escalation, recommending corrective actions, and supporting initiatives that improve risk management effectiveness. The position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day risk management processes while providing recommendations that assist management in reducing risk, controlling costs, and ensuring compliance with company requirements.

What you will do:
  • Administer and oversee assigned property and other claims programs to support timely reporting, investigation, resolution, and documentation.
  • Review claim activity, loss information, and claim documentation to identify issues, trends, potential exposures, and opportunities for claim cost containment.
  • Evaluate claim developments, compare potential courses of action, and determine when matters require follow-up, escalation, or additional review by management, brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, or legal counsel based on the significance of the exposure, cost, compliance issue, or operational impact.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external claims partners to facilitate effective claim management and resolution.
  • Monitor open claims and independently provide recommendations regarding claim handling concerns, emerging issues, reserve or exposure considerations, and loss reduction opportunities.
  • Assist in identifying claim trends and recurring loss drivers and recommend actions that support improved claim outcomes.
Insurance Program Administration
  • Review certificates of insurance, endorsements, policy-related documents, and other insurance records to determine compliance with company requirements and recommend corrective action or escalation when coverage, contractual, or risk-transfer concerns are identified.
  • Coordinate insurance documentation, renewals, audits, exposure information gathering, and underwriting submissions.
  • Review information submitted in support of insurance renewals and audits for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource to internal business partners regarding insurance documentation requirements and risk transfer processes.
  • Coordinate with brokers, carriers, vendors, and operational teams to resolve insurance related issues and support effective program administration.
  • Administer the Risk Management Information System (RMIS), ensuring risk and claims information is accurate, complete, and current.
  • Review system data and reports to identify discrepancies, reporting issues, and opportunities to improve data quality.
  • Develop, maintain, and distribute routine and ad hoc reports supporting risk management, claims administration, insurance renewals, and operational decision-making.
  • Recommend enhancements to reporting processes, data management practices, and system utilization to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as a departmental resource regarding RMIS reporting and information management.
  • Analyze claims, loss run, exposure, and insurance-related information to identify trends, emerging issues, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations that support management's understanding of risk exposures and program performance.
  • Identify issues requiring management attention, evaluate available options, and provide recommendations for corrective action, process improvements, escalation, or further review.
  • Support departmental projects and initiatives through research, analysis, and recommendations that may affect company policies, procedures, operating practices, or risk-control priorities.
Governance, Compliance & Process Improvement
  • Maintain risk management policies, procedures, records, and related documentation.
  • Review existing processes and identify opportunities to improve compliance, consistency, operational effectiveness, and data quality.
  • Recommend improvements to claims administration, insurance administration, reporting, and risk management workflows, including changes that improve compliance, cost control, operational effectiveness, or risk mitigation.
  • Support implementation of risk management initiatives and operational improvements across the organization.

Note: The job duties above provide a general sense of the role; though, additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

How you will shine:
  • Associate’s degree in risk management, business administration or insurance preferred, or equivalent combination of education and applicable certifications and experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in risk management, insurance operations, claims administration, or a related role.
  • Experience with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) or similar reporting platforms preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance, claims processes, and risk management principles.
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing claims, insurance documentation, or risk-related information.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when evaluating risk-related information, determining appropriate follow-up or escalation, and recommending actions on matters of operational, financial, compliance, or reputational significance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work independently within established guidelines.
What motivates our team:
  • Career Progression with a high growth.
  • Modern office space in the heart of downtown Tucson.
  • On-site Fitness Gym and Bike Share.
  • Employee Game Room and Lounge.
  • Free Unlimited Wash Club Membership.
