GENERATION CITIZEN

Generation Citizen offers tools for the rising generation to build civic skills and make America the inclusive, multi-racial democracy that we need. We are transforming how civics is taught by providing equity-rooted, real-world civic education, which helps students understand exactly how governments function and how they can make a difference in the system. Through hands-on civic education, legislative advocacy and coalition building, and youth leadership development, we teach young people how to have a voice and become active citizens in their communities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a skilled, passionate project manager with electoral or issue-based campaign experience to lead our RISE VOTE 2026 nonpartisan initiative to register, inform, support, and empower high-school students. After a successful pilot experience in 2024, GC's RISE VOTE 2026 initiative is co-led with two signature partners and leaders in high school voter registration, The Civics Center and New Voters. This exciting part-time role (20 hours per week) advances Generation Citizen's mission of inclusive, participatory democracy by increasing high school students' access to voter registration and pre-registration opportunities.
This role is a time-bound opportunity from summer 2026 to spring 2027, with an anticipated end date of March 31st, 2027. Reporting to the Chief Voice & Policy Officer in our Civic Voice & Policy Team, this role will own and drive our voter registration initiative, lead educator outreach for the initiative, and help ensure the collaborative execution of high school voter registration drives across fifteen states: RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, OK, KY, CA, WA, MA, NC, AZ, MI, OH and TX.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage Teacher Outreach for RISE VOTE 2026 initiative (25%)
  • Collaborate with GC's regional Executive Directors to ensure teacher awareness and activation in the RISE VOTE 2026 initiative
  • Publicize RISE Vote 2026 opportunities to host voter registration drives with teacher-facing networks, listservs, newsletters, and audiences within public education, social studies, and civic learning communities
  • Partner with GC's Chief Voice & Policy Officer to develop and refine teacher-facing messaging for campaign outreach
  • Ensure teacher recruitment and retention in summer 2026, fall 2026, and spring 2027 cycles of high-school voter registration events for the RISE Vote 2026 initiative
  • Drive the process of convening, designing, and executing RISE Vote 2026 teacher webinars

Coordinate RISE Vote 2026 Partner Engagement (25%)
  • Design agendas and lead meeting facilitation for RISE Vote 2026 meetings with GC, The Civics Center, and New Voters
  • Provide recurring opportunities for GC's Leadership Advisory Council and Future250 working groups to support RISE Vote 2026 through targeted emails, socials, and newsletters
  • Collaborate with GC's Chief Voice & Policy Officer & Regional teams to develop Summer and Fall 2026 school-based, teacher relationships for high school voter registration opportunities
  • Own the process of developing RISE VOTE 2026 outreach materials for GC regional partners in civics education coalitions, pro-democracy sectors, and youth civic engagement sectors

Amplify RISE Vote 2026 Initiative (25%)
  • Collaborate with GC's Associate Director of Communications to build visibility for the campaign through social media posts, newsletter announcements, and podcasts
  • Complete revisions for RISE VOTE 2026 toolkit, working with GC's Associate Director of Communications to promote the resource within the civics education field
  • Collaborate with GC's Associate Director of Communications and Chief Voice & Policy Officer to secure media placements for RISE Vote 2026

Manage and Track More Perfect Grant Deliverables (25%)
  • Collaborate with GC's Chief Voice & Policy Officer to develop and maintain the RISE Vote 2026 dashboard to measure campaign progress against goals
  • Coordinate with partners to ensure the execution and tracking of high school voter registration and pre-registration events, targeting up to 5,000 student registrations as part of the RISE Vote 2026 initiative.
  • Oversee the training and dissemination of the RISE Vote 2026 Toolkit to 75-100 educators.
  • Identify trends and patterns embedded in RISE Vote 2026 high school voter registration drives to facilitate continued innovation and program improvement
  • Support the Chief Voice & Policy Officer and GC's M&E team in meeting the grant's reporting requirements, including progress toward all quantitative indicators for the RISE Vote 2026.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in voter registration campaign experience, including designing, managing, and measuring the impact of voter registration initiatives
  • Minimum of 2 years in project management or event planning experience
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in youth civic engagement preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.

SALARY
Generation Citizen is committed to maintaining a compensation and total rewards package that supports our ability to recruit and retain a diverse and talented team. As we make decisions about compensation, we are guided by the following values: clarity, consistency, and internal pay equity. Roles on the National team extend throughout the country causing a wider salary range due to geographic variation versus regional roles that have a set salary.
The hourly rate range for this role is $30 to $35.

VACATION TIME, PTO & PAID HOLIDAYS
Generation Citizen offers employees working less than 30 hours per week accrue sick time annually. Employees accrue sick leave at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked to a maximum of 40 hours of paid sick leave.
Employees regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours a week will receive holiday pay if the paid holiday lands on a regularly scheduled work day.
