Job description

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly-motivated Right of Way Agent in the Raleigh and/or Charlotte, NC area, with a broad knowledge of procedures used to acquire real property interests for projects. This is a full time, permanent position supporting many projects concurrently. The successful candidate is able to multi-task and adept at producing accurate project deliverables on short notice.
The Right of Way industry sits at the intersection of infrastructure, community, and progress. Every road widened, every utility expanded, every pipeline installed, and every transit corridor built begins with one critical step: securing the right of way. This is where strategy meets negotiation. Where land, law, and people converge. And where professionals who thrive on challenge, complexity, and impact build careers that truly shape communities


Responsibilities
  • Provide easement and/or land acquisition on assigned projects.
  • Have general understanding of notary laws and land rights.
  • Prepare offer packages and closing packages.
  • Present and negotiate offers to impacted property owners while establishing a positive rapport with each tract owner.
  • Lease agreement negotiation experience a plus.
  • NCDOT Right of Way agent experience required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 year of Right of Way Acquisition experience required.
  • Active Real Estate License for state of NC a must.
  • Notary for state of NC required.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines, as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and negotiation skills.
  • Can work independently.
  • Analytical and able to problem solve.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word and Outlook, and databases such as SharePoint or equivalent.
  • English language proficient.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess “team player” attitude and ensure all projects are completed by let schedule.
  • Responsible for providing weekly updates to management.
  • May require weekend hours.
  • Be able to think out of the box when confronted with challenging situations or conversations.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
