JOB posting

JOB TITLE: Yard Hand

DEPARTMENT: Service

REPORTS TO: Yard Manager


POSITION PURPOSE:

The Yard Hand is responsible for assisting the Yard Manager in yard operations by way of maintenance, customer service and guest relations, vessel handling, and general marina yard upkeep to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for boat owners and guests.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide the highest level of guest service, creating the best and most memorable experience for both guests and members
  2. Assist the Yard Manager with general vessel haul out and blocking operations, including handling blocks, stands, and related equipment
  3. Perform daily equipment inspections to ensure marina machinery and tools are operating safely and efficiently
  4. Assist with launching, hauling, moving, and blocking vessels using marina equipment and machinery
  5. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the marina service yard area, docks, storage facilities, and workspaces
  6. Comply with all OSHA and environmental regulations, adhering to all site rules, processes, policies, and expectations, including proper wear of PPE as required for a specified tasks or work area


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. One to three (1-3) years previous experience in boat yard, service yard, or marina facilities required
  2. Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with team members, guests, tenants, and vendors
  3. Must have a general understanding of common marina operational practices
  4. Must have hospitality-forward standards, a high level of accuracy, and a keen eye for detail


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Must be able to independently lift, carry, push, and pull up to fifty (50) pounds
  2. Must be able to swim or be willing to wear a personal flotation device in instances of emergency
  3. Basic boat handling skills and knowledge are preferred
  4. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays as operations necessitate
  5. Must possess a valid driver’s license as this individual may be required to operate vessels or other vehicles
  6. Must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat) and terrains
  7. Must be able to climb stairs, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions
