To thrive as a Rig Operator, you need mechanical aptitude, physical stamina, and a solid understanding of drilling and rigging procedures, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with heavy equipment, hydraulic systems, and relevant safety certifications such as H2S Alive or OSHA are typically required. Strong teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are important soft skills in this field.
