Position Overview

Under the direction of the Operations Department Manager, the Plant Start Up Leader will be directly responsible for the management and leadership of site Global Start up plan, including the analysis and optimization of production process and implementation of new equipment and product upgrades. This position will lead data-driven operational improvements, start-up of production systems and the design of new technologies. The role will also lead and coordinate planning efforts between the plant and other functions, including Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Logistics and Product Development for new product initiatives, working towards resolving staffing, equipment, and logistical issues for all new products produced at site

Key Responsibilities Description
  • Gathers plant cost and feasibility information in order to accurately and quickly respond to Project Information Forms (detailed cost and feasibility for new products)
  • Develops, implements, and manages the Global Start Up Management plan for the Hunt Valley plant with direct responsibility for leading various Current Best Approach initiatives. Develops and owns the start-up communication and staffing plans
  • Complete technical documentation and updates SOPs. Provides input and intodesign bases and equipment specifications to ensure technical correctness. Completes statistical batch analysis during Verification
  • Ensures compliance with AM and PM standards and is responsible for the spare parts process to ensure availability by Commissioning. Responsible for Technology, Training and Transfer activities, a successful qualification process
  • Develops and manages the Capacity glidepaths process for each value stream based on equipment installation dates, equipment PR start up curves and the PR invention improvement activities
  • Shares and reapply best practices in the areas of resources, tools and expertise relating to process improvement/cost avoidance/cost reduction initiatives. Partners with the central procurement function to ensure that all the site service functions are at the best possible cost for value. Supports the Engineering Department in identifying best practice and the delivery of the Engineering Master Plan
Required Qualifications
  • BSc in Engineering
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing facility, with leadership experience and a proven record of target focused delivery in fast paced Operational environment Understanding of the Tools and Techniques used in Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM). Proven project management skills, with the ability to participate in initiatives according to business needs and strategy Solid uderstanding of of the specific work unit; knowledge of the functional area and how external factors impact the work unit. Background knowledge of the industry in order to understand which improvement options are feasible. Therefore, a solid understanding of applicable regulations, safety protocols, manufacturing tolerances and related data is needed Expected to know and understand applicability of current best industry practices that apply to field of responsibility.Working practices within the packaging machinery and controls category. Solid understanding of how own area integrates with other areas Basic understanding of how multiple areas contribute to achieving the goals of the business. Basic understanding of the industry sector in which they are operating and the impact to own function.
  • Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange complicated information, including sensitive information or information that is difficult to communicate because of its content or its audience. Provides mentoring, coaching and leading technology and technical skills development
