Job description

CDL-A RGN / HEAVY HAUL DRIVER
HIRING AREA: MULTIPLE U.S. HIRING AREAS
THIS ISN'T STANDARD OTR FREIGHT
Moving construction machinery, industrial equipment, oversized freight, and other specialized loads requires a driver who understands considerably more than basic pickup and delivery.
Truck Driver Nation is recruiting experienced CDL-A drivers for qualifying RGN, lowboy, and specialized heavy-haul opportunities with participating motor carriers.
We're interested in drivers who already understand the responsibility that comes with specialized freight.
WHAT YOU MAY BE HAULING
Depending on the available position, freight may include:
  • Construction equipment
  • Heavy machinery
  • Industrial equipment
  • Agricultural machinery
  • Oversized or over-dimensional freight
  • Specialized project freight
  • Other loads requiring RGN or lowboy equipment

Actual freight varies by carrier, customer, lane, and assignment.
COMPENSATION STRUCTURE
Select specialized opportunities may provide:
  • Percentage-based compensation
  • Weekly pay
  • Higher-value specialized freight
  • OTR mileage opportunities
  • Additional compensation associated with qualifying specialized loads

Compensation varies by the actual opportunity, freight revenue, equipment, load requirements, driver qualifications, and operating conditions. No specific earnings are guaranteed by this posting.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES EXPERIENCE AND JUDGMENT
Drivers may be responsible for more than simply transporting the load.
Depending on the assignment, responsibilities can include:
  • Evaluating load placement
  • Loading and unloading heavy equipment
  • Proper chain and binder securement
  • Checking loaded dimensions and clearances
  • Following permitted routes
  • Monitoring securement throughout transit
  • Coordinating specialized pickup and delivery requirements
  • Maintaining required transportation documentation
  • Communicating with dispatch, customers, and job sites
EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Qualified applicants should generally have:
  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Current DOT medical card
  • Verifiable CDL-A experience
  • RGN, Lowboy, Heavy Haul, Step Deck, or comparable specialized experience
  • Strong cargo-securement knowledge
  • Acceptable MVR and safety history
  • Ability to safely handle specialized equipment
  • OTR availability where required
  • Professional communication skills
  • Ability to satisfy DOT/FMCSA and applicable motor-carrier requirements

Oversize/over-dimensional experience is especially valuable for qualifying openings.
EQUIPMENT
Available positions may involve:
  • Removable Gooseneck (RGN) trailers
  • Lowboy equipment
  • Step Deck equipment
  • Specialized open-deck trailers
  • Late-model tractors on select opportunities

Exact equipment depends upon the motor carrier and position available at the time of qualification.
HOME TIME & OPERATING AREA
Heavy-haul freight doesn't always follow the same operating pattern as general Dry Van freight.
Routes, time away from home, and home-time schedules depend on the projects and opportunities available.
Truck Driver Nation will review your location and operating preferences when determining whether an available position fits what you're looking for.
YOUR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE HAS VALUE
If you've already hauled equipment that required careful loading, securement, route planning, permits, or specialized trailer knowledge, tell us exactly what you've done.
That information helps us distinguish an experienced heavy-haul driver from a general CDL-A applicant and match the driver with an appropriate opportunity.
APPLY FOR REVIEW
Submit your application through this posting.
Truck Driver Nation will review your CDL history, specialized equipment experience, freight background, driving record, location, and operating preferences against qualifying current opportunities.
Truck Driver Nation provides recruiting services for participating motor carriers and transportation companies and may not be the motor carrier or W-2 employer for the position ultimately offered.
Submitting an application does not guarantee employment or placement. Final qualification, compensation, freight, equipment, routes, home time, benefits, and hiring approval are determined by the applicable motor carrier.
SMS COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE
Applicants may choose to receive SMS/text messages from Truck Driver Nation regarding their application, application status, scheduling, recruiting communications, and applicable driving opportunities. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. SMS consent is optional and is not a condition of applying or being considered for a position.
