Your Opportunity
We are looking for a talented, self-driven, and highly motivated Industrial Water and PFAS Business Development Leader who wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization that's focused on helping our clients, colleagues, and communities thrive. Reporting to the Business Center Practice Leader (BCPL, US North Industrial Water), this role is an integral part of the Water Business and will contribute to revenue growth through effective account management, and by promoting water services throughout the region and beyond. Primary responsibilities include serving as an Account Manager for various Industrial clients, collaborating with Project Managers and Account Managers across the region to identify new opportunities, lead pursuits through developing detailed proposals, support high-level business strategies and implementation planning, and supporting overall regional performance. The position also requires active engagement in project delivery and execution.
Your Key Responsibilities Focus:
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Account Managers to focus on growing existing client accounts and developing new potential accounts.
  • Serve as a key contributor and take the lead in Account Management for new and existing clients.
  • Fulfill requirements for marketing and business development (M&BD) initiatives, including internal cross-selling.
  • Provide technical leadership to project pursuits and delivery.

Provide broad leadership influence:
  • Act as a highly regarded leader, thought partner and a source of counsel and advisor.
  • Be personally involved in key client relationships, strategic project pursuits and major project leadership.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec's high performance culture with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Develop positive relationships with clients, earn their confidence, and become their trusted adviser.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.

Business Development and Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with Business Center (BC) leadership and account managers to lead cross-business line collaboration of key initiatives and pursuits throughout the Industrial Water practice.
  • Partner with the Regional Growth Leader (RGL) and Industrial Water BCPLs for development of their marketing and business development (M&BD) plans.
  • Market potential clients for multidisciplined/multi-BOU pursuits in coordination with Account Managers.
  • Participate in go/no-go decisions and pursuit budget discussions for large and/or strategic pursuits.
  • Provide information on macroeconomic trends, market intelligence, competitor intelligence, and market pricing.
  • Identify opportunities, help understand client drivers, and work with regulators / agencies to understand market drivers/incentives.
  • Review technical proposals in area of technical expertise.
  • Participate in risk reviews for the multidisciplined/multi-Business Operating Unit (BOU) pursuits.
  • Coordinates with national and regional sector leaders to connect subject matter experts, identify resource needs in the region, pursue opportunities, and reflect key sector pursuits.
  • Support development of proposals (Technical and Cost) for multidisciplined/multi-BOU pursuits.
  • Participate in the quarterly Net Revenue Forecast update.

Project Delivery and Execution:
  • Serve as Project Manager, Project Technical Lead or Process Technical Lead, measured by Project Performance.
  • Participate actively as a task leader, adding value to the project measured by reviews with Project or Task Leadership.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to junior staff. Support the development of future Engineers, Business Developers, and Account Managers.
  • Participates in regular communication and collaboration meetings with BCPLs, account managers, and regional sector leaders.
  • Works closely with Sector Leaders, Project Developers, the Stantec Institute, and Water Strategic Pursuits Team to leverage Stantec's internal resources and expertise.

Key Performance Indicators:
  • Support business plan Marketing & Business Development (MBD), sales, and revenue targets within budget:
    • Net sales revenue
    • Net sales growth (% over prior year)
    • Backlog
    • MBD spend against budget
  • Contribute to hit rate (#) and capture rate ($) >40
  • 10 client touch points per month
  • Health Safety Security Environment (HSSE) goals

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience.
  • License: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
