Job description

Delon Hampton & Associates is seeking multiple full-time, dedicated Office Engineers to support active construction management at client's site in Washington, DC. The Office Engineer is a critical member of the construction management team and uses his/her technical expertise to support submittal and Request for Information (RFI) management and review of payment applications, change orders, contractor work plans, and shutdown requests, among other documents. His/her work involves interpreting plans and specifications, evaluating technical data, and developing status reports, among other tasks. The Office Engineer performs work under the supervision of a Construction Manager or Owner’s Advisor.

SALARY

$51 - $65 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help the Construction Manager or Owner's Advisor plan, organize, and implement effective processes for managing construction documents, including correspondence, submittals, RFIs, field directives, proposed change orders, payment applications, contractor work plans, and shutdown requests.
  • Serve as Submittal/RFI Coordinator in the electronic project management information system; review submittals and RFIs for general contract compliance prior to distribution to technical reviewers and track/report on review status.
  • Interpret drawings, plans, specifications, and technical data.
  • Participate in and record minutes and action items for construction meetings including progress and schedule review meetings.
  • Provide support during project closeout activities.
  • Conduct construction technical research and project document review, along with other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5+ years of experience on multi-discipline construction projects.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes; water/wastewater industry standards; and construction principles, techniques, procedures, and materials.
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, technical submittals, and related project documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interface with client staff at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and solve technical problems within a team environment, applying underlying principles and delivering value-added solutions.
  • Proficiency with contract management software; experience with Oracle Primavera Unifier preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of wastewater facility design and construction preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week at clients site in Washington, DC.
