THE WORK:
The GG RF Engineer is a critical role responsible for designing, installing, and testing RF systems, with a focus on SATCOM components and devices operating in various frequency bands, including but not limited to S-band, C-band, X-band, Ku-band, and Ka-band. The successful candidate will be working on complex RF system design, installation, and test, and will be required to travel up to 15% worldwide. The RF Design Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our RF systems, from design to deployment, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet user requirements.
RF Design and Installation:
Design, install, and test RF systems, including SATCOM components and devices, utilizing knowledge of RF principles and system design
Conduct site surveys, climb antennas, and rack hardware as required, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations
RF Test and Measurement:
Utilize RF test equipment such as Keyband PNA-X, Fieldfox, Spec-A, Sig-Gen, and O-Scopes to test and measure RF system performance, including spectral analysis, modulation analysis, and bit error rate (BER) testing
Measure and analyze S-parameters, P1dB, TOI, NF, Phase Noise, and Group Delay, with consideration for the impact of non-linear effects, such as intermodulation distortion and spectral growth
Familiarity with signal processing techniques, including filtering, amplification, and frequency conversion, as applied to SATCOM signal chains
System Design and Documentation:
Create system drawings and documentation using AutoCAD or Visio, including block diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings
Understand and apply link budget analysis, antenna patterns, and G/T measurements, with consideration for the effects of noise, interference, and multipath on system performance
Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including system architects, and project managers, to ensure systems meet user requirements and are delivered on schedule
