Job description

Senior Electrical Engineer – Water/Wastewater (Houston, TX | Full-Time)

Job Summary
Join a growing engineering consulting team delivering critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Texas. This senior-level role offers strong visibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to contribute across the full project lifecycle—from planning and design through construction and commissioning. You will support primarily municipal water/wastewater work, with additional exposure to industrial facilities, data centers, and other complex infrastructure projects. Typical assignments involve construction-level engineering and design for projects valued around $3 million, often for municipalities and other public-sector clients. In this highly collaborative, smaller-team environment, you will take on a multifaceted role that blends hands-on engineering with coordination, documentation, and client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical designs and construction documents for water, wastewater, municipal, industrial, and other infrastructure projects
  • Design electrical power and control systems for treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and similar facilities
  • Support low- and medium-voltage power distribution, emergency power generation, controls, instrumentation, and related electrical systems
  • Produce and review engineering drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Coordinate electrical designs with civil, mechanical, controls, and other engineering disciplines
  • Participate in projects from initial design and planning through construction and commissioning
  • Interface directly with municipal clients, project managers, contractors, utilities, and other stakeholders
  • Perform technical reviews to help ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Assist with project management, scheduling, coordination, and construction-phase support
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Take ownership of projects while working collaboratively within a small engineering team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of professional electrical engineering experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (strongly preferred)
  • Experience developing construction-level electrical engineering designs
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Experience with Revit
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution and control systems
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and projects in a smaller consulting environment
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with clients
  • Experience with municipalities, utilities, or public infrastructure clients (highly desirable)

Nice to Have Skills (Beneficial, Not Required)

  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Experience with lift stations and pump stations
  • Municipal infrastructure experience
  • SCADA and industrial control systems exposure
  • Motor control centers (MCCs) experience
  • Emergency generators and automatic transfer systems experience
  • Instrumentation and controls experience
  • Utility coordination experience
  • Industrial electrical systems experience
  • Data center or other mission-critical facility project exposure

If you’re ready to take ownership of impactful infrastructure projects and work closely with clients across the full delivery cycle, apply today to be considered.
