Job Title: Associate Attorney


Job Summary:


The Associate Attorney position will gain extensive courtroom experience through regular appearances on behalf of the firm. This role is responsible for reviewing new claims and pleadings, managing a contested litigation queue, and supporting all aspects of the litigation process. Associates will develop comprehensive knowledge of court procedures, internal controls, and firm and client policies. This position has no billable hour requirements.


Essential Duties:

  • Appear in court on behalf of the firm a minimum of three days per week.
  • Review new claims for compliance with firm and client standards.
  • Review and approve pleadings filed with the courts, including complaints and motions.
  • Occasionally draft motions and responses for contested matters as needed.
  • Argue contested motions and conduct trials and arbitrations.
  • Manage telephonic and written communication with opposing counsel.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery or oversee counterclaims involving the firm or its clients.

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate and admission to the Missouri Bar required. Additional licenses in other states where the firm operates are valuable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with Collection Master or equivalent case management systems preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, judges, opposing counsel, and court clerks.
  • Demonstrated tact, discretion, and courtesy in professional interactions.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, manage timelines, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records with strong attention to detail.
