Job description

Warehouse & Inventory Operations Lead

Location: Phoenix/Chandler, AZ (Must reside in the Phoenix/Chandler market)

Position Overview

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Warehouse & Inventory Operations Lead is responsible for the daily execution and ownership of warehouse, yard, dock, inventory, and material movement activities for a growing fiber communications company.

This role is an on-site position and will often serve as the primary warehouse representative at the location, working independently to receive, issue, stage, return, transfer, and reconcile materials while maintaining strong inventory accuracy and system discipline.

The successful candidate must be a hands-on, self-directed operator with strong attention to detail, forklift experience, and the ability to manage physical material flow while ensuring the company's ERP/WMS system remains accurate and up to date.

This role requires direct coordination with contractors, associates, carriers, manufacturers, vendors, and internal supply chain partners to support safe, efficient, and accurate warehouse operations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as the primary on-site warehouse representative, often working independently to manage daily warehouse, yard, dock, and inventory activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and compliant work environment in accordance with internal policies, OSHA regulations, and company safety expectations.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture by identifying workplace hazards, correcting unsafe conditions where possible, and escalating concerns when assistance is required.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined receiving, issuing, returns processing, transfers, cycle counts, audits, and system updates.
  • Ensure all inventory movements are accurately and timely recorded in the company ERP/WMS system, including receipts, transfers, returns, project removals, adjustments, and outbound material disbursements.
  • Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other inventory management systems to support accurate inventory control, material transactions, reporting, and reconciliation.
  • Track material usage, monitor stock levels, understand supplier lead times, and coordinate replenishment activity to maintain sufficient inventory and prevent material shortages.
  • Lead warehouse and yard setup, organization, racking configuration, bin/location assignment, material flow, and storage layout to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Adjust warehouse racking, storage methods, and yard layout as material types, volumes, and operational needs change.
  • Schedule and coordinate inbound carrier appointments, including FTL, LTL, parcel, and other delivery methods.
  • Receive and validate inbound shipments, including quantity verification, condition inspection, documentation review, and discrepancy identification.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve shipment discrepancies, including shortages, overages, damages, substitutions, incorrect materials, and documentation issues.
  • Manage dock operations, including inbound receiving, outbound staging, loading and unloading carriers, and maintaining organized dock flow.
  • Pick, stage, and prepare orders for outbound material disbursement requests to contractors, associates, and internal teams.
  • Load outbound shipments to contractors, associates, carriers, and other authorized recipients using forklifts, pallet jacks, and related material handling equipment.
  • Issue materials to contractors and associates, validate material requests, document transactions, and ensure inventory is properly relieved from the correct project, warehouse, or location.
  • Receive returned materials from contractors, validate quantities and condition, determine disposition, and ensure inventory is accurately returned to stock, removed from projects, or identified for scrap.
  • Coordinate yard-to-yard, warehouse-to-warehouse, and project-related material transfers while ensuring physical movement and system transactions remain aligned.
  • Perform routine cycle counts, monthly warehouse and yard audits.

Pay Range: $25-35/hr

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. Our full-time consultants have access to benefits including medical, dental, vision as well as 401K contributions.
