Job description

Florida Retina Specialists is looking for a Medical Receptionist with a great personality to join our cohesive team of enthusiastic, and caring people who enjoy serving patients and who like to have fun! The position would be between Merritt Island, and Viera office locations. Medical office experience is very helpful but not necessary. We will train. The ideal candidate is outgoing, friendly, trustworthy, and a good multi-tasker.


Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome visitors and patients to the clinic
  • Make appointments for patients and communicating details to Doctor and staff
  • Answering telephone inquiries accurately, and triaging patient and referrals from other physician offices
  • Process patientsโ€™ files, and explain clinic policies
  • Ensure that supplies and paperwork needed for the smooth operation of the reception desk are always available
  • Have a proficient knowledge of EMR and Practice Management software
  • Accurately enter patient insurances/ demographics
  • When needed, assist Billing staff to verify all patient insurances preferably 3 days before appointments
  • Ensure that all patient data is accurate and are updated periodically
  • Obtain authorizations or referrals prior to appointments
  • Share tasks with all front desk staff of appointment reminders to patients 24-48 hours prior to appointments at all clinic locations
  • Collect monies due at time of appointment and recording financial information
  • Inform patients when forms/ lab results/ medical records have been received or processed.
  • Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
  • Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Contribute to team effort by cross-training on clinic procedures and patient work-up.
  • Check inventory of supplies and inform management of shortages
  • Working incoming and outgoing referrals

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Retina/Ophthalmology terminologies (preferred)
  • High level of confidentiality, Good interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Medicare and Insurance policies
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, excel, and computing skills
  • Good money organization
  • Multi-tasking, Flexibility, Telephone Skills, Customer Service, Time Management, Organization, Attention to Detail, Scheduling, Professionalism
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferable.
