How much do reticle runner jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 17, 2026, the average hourly pay for reticle runner in the United States is $13.66, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $10.58 and $16.11 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are Reticle Runners?

Reticle Runners are specialized workers in the semiconductor manufacturing industry responsible for transporting and handling reticles, which are glass plates containing patterns used in photolithography to create integrated circuits on silicon wafers. Their duties include ensuring the safe movement of these highly sensitive and valuable reticles between storage and production areas, maintaining cleanliness to prevent contamination, and sometimes performing inspections or minor maintenance. Reticle Runners play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and quality of the semiconductor fabrication process.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Reticle Runner, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Reticle Runner, you generally need attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, wafer handling tools, and inventory tracking systems is typically required. Reliability, strong communication, and the ability to work efficiently under time constraints are critical soft skills. These competencies ensure the accurate and timely delivery of reticles within semiconductor manufacturing, minimizing production delays and contamination risks.

What is a reticle runner job description?

A reticle runner is responsible for transporting reticles, which are precision optical components used in microscopes or other equipment, between different areas such as cleanrooms or manufacturing floors. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to cleanliness protocols, and often involves working in controlled environments to prevent contamination.

What jobs pay 10,000 a month without a degree?

A Reticle Runner typically earns below $10,000 a month, as it is an entry-level position in the manufacturing or production environment. High-paying jobs that can reach $10,000 monthly without a degree include roles like sales managers, real estate brokers, or skilled trades such as electricians and plumbers, which often require experience or certifications rather than formal degrees.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Reticle Runners are typically not paid $2000 a day; such high daily rates are more common in specialized fields like high-level consulting, executive coaching, or certain freelance roles in finance, law, or technology. These positions often require advanced skills, certifications, or significant experience and may involve project-based or contract work. Most jobs with daily pay of $2000 are highly competitive and involve significant responsibility or expertise.

What are some common challenges faced by Reticle Runners in semiconductor manufacturing, and how can they be addressed?

Reticle Runners often encounter challenges such as maintaining precision while handling delicate reticles, ensuring timely delivery between photolithography stages, and adhering to strict cleanroom protocols to avoid contamination. Effective communication with process engineers and technicians is crucial to prevent workflow delays. Staying organized and vigilant about equipment maintenance can help mitigate risks, while ongoing training on safety and process updates supports consistent performance.

What is the difference between Reticle Runner vs Camera Assistant?

AspectReticle RunnerCamera Assistant
CredentialsBasic film industry knowledge, sometimes certificationsCamera-specific certifications often preferred
Work EnvironmentFilm sets, studios, live productionsFilm and TV sets, production companies
Industry UsagePrimarily in film and television productionIn film, TV, and commercial productions
Job FocusHandling reticles, assisting with camera setupManaging camera equipment, assisting camera operators

The main difference between a Reticle Runner and a Camera Assistant lies in their specific roles. Reticle Runners focus on handling reticles and supporting camera setups, while Camera Assistants have broader responsibilities including managing camera equipment and assisting camera operators. Both roles are essential in film and TV production, often working closely together on set.

What is the 3 month rule for jobs?

The 3 month rule for a Reticle Runner or similar jobs typically refers to a probationary period of three months during which an employee's performance and fit for the role are evaluated. Successful completion of this period often leads to permanent employment, benefits, or advancement opportunities. During this time, workers may need to demonstrate reliability, safety awareness, and adherence to job protocols.

Job description

Company Overview

KLA is a global leader in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. Virtually every electronic device in the world is produced using our technologies. No laptop, smartphone, wearable device, voice-controlled gadget, flexible screen, VR device or smart car would have made it into your hands without us. KLA invents systems and solutions for the manufacturing of wafers and reticles, integrated circuits, packaging, printed circuit boards and flat panel displays. The innovative ideas and devices that are advancing humanity all begin with inspiration, research and development. KLA focuses more than average on innovation and we invest 15% of sales back into R&D. Our expert teams of physicists, engineers, data scientists and problem-solvers work together with the world's leading technology providers to accelerate the delivery of tomorrow's electronic devices. Life here is exciting and our teams thrive on tackling really hard problems. There is never a dull moment with us.

Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Sensitivity and Throughput Roadmap for both BBP and Rapid Divisions. BBP (Broadband Plasma) Division provides market-leading patterned wafer optical inspection systems for leading-edge IC manufacturing. Rapid Division provides market-leading reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry.

In this role, you will be working with Research Scientists, Optics Engineers and Opto-Mechanical Engineers to develop R&D Inspection Benches to validate new inspection methods that are intended to drive the future of both BBP and Rapid divisions.

These R&D Inspection Benches would be utilized to run actual inspections on customers' wafers and reticles in order to validate the values of the proposed new inspection methods. The inspection results from these R&D benches will determine the adoption/implementation on the actual systems/products, thus the roadmap.

In this role you will:

  • Obtain thorough understanding of the fundamental physics behind the new proposed inspection methods and the underlying problems these new methods are aimed to solve.
  • Work together with Optics Engineers and Optomech Engineers to derive Requirements for the Subsystem to be developed for the bench qualification
  • Work together with Optics Engineers and Optomech Engineers to develop the layout, followed by design concepts and detailed designs to build these R&D Inspection Benches from scratch.
  • Own driving selections of key modules such as light source, optics, sensors/cameras, stages.
  • Work together with Optics Engineers and Optomech Engineers to perform assembly, alignment and integration of these benches.
  • Perform Subsystems qualification (image quality, data path, vibration, thermal, etc.) on these benches to show it meets requirements as pre-requisite before running actual inspections.
  • Running actual inspections on customers' wafers and reticles on these benches to validate proof of concept of these new inspection methods.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to Product teams and Marketing.
  • Conduct proper hand-off from proof of concept to the Engineering/Product Development Teams for product implementation.
