Job description

Additional Information About the Role

Goldfarb School of Nursing has an opportunity for a highly student-centered professional who can blend academic advising with coaching, support, and resource navigation. The advisor serves as a critical partner in helping nursing students successfully progress through a rigorous and structured curriculum while connecting them with the broader support services available at GSON.

Monday-Friday, on site position with flexibility needed for potential evenings and weekends. 


Overview

With a legacy beginning in 1902, Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College has a strong tradition of educating health care professionals.

Goldfarb School of Nursing is located on the Washington University Medical Campus in St. Louis and is affiliated with Barnes-Jewish Hospital, with a second site at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Goldfarb is a private nursing college that enrolls over 650 students in its baccalaureate, masters and doctoral degree programs. Goldfarb has nationally recognized educational facilities with state-of-the-art classrooms, lecture halls and sophisticated Clinical Simulation Institute labs with patient simulation manikins and exam rooms that provide high-tech, advanced nursing care experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Manages a caseload of students in both the undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the student’s tenure at the College. From advising the students regarding program and course scheduling to personal advising and career counseling, the Advisor works to ensure that each student has a point of contact outside of faculty and helps each student maintain work-life balance throughout their studies.

Responsibilities

  • Advises students using routine or alternative academic road maps as appropriate.
  • Administers and recruits students into the student retention programs.
  • Provides academic skills coaching.
  • Provides job placement coaching.
  • Advises student life groups, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

- Business/Education/related

Experience

  • 2-5 years

Preferred Requirements

Supervisor Experience

  • No Experience
