Retail Nursery Sales Associate

Do you love helping customers bring their outdoor living dreams to life? Lowney's Landscaping Center is looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Retail Nursery Sales Associate to join our team! In this role, you'll help customers select beautiful plants, premium outdoor furniture, grills, and garden products while creating an exceptional shopping experience from start to finish. You'll play a key role in maintaining eye-catching displays, showcasing seasonal products, and helping transform our garden center into an inspiring destination for homeowners and gardening enthusiasts. If you thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, enjoy connecting with people, and have a passion for sales, merchandising, and outdoor living, we'd love to have you on our team.

What you'll be doing as a Retail Nursery Sales Associate:

  • Greet and assist customers with plant, outdoor furniture, grill, and garden product selections.
  • Provide product knowledge and recommendations based on customer needs and project goals.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Assist customers with special orders, product inquiries, returns, and exchanges.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing retail displays throughout the nursery and garden center.
  • Merchandise products and execute product placement plans to maximize sales and customer engagement.
  • Restock merchandise, update pricing, and ensure products are properly labeled.
  • Assist with inventory counts and communicate stock needs to management.
  • Support seasonal merchandising changes and promotional displays.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive and welcoming shopping experience.
  • Responsible for unloading plant material off trucks upon arrival and loading retail trucks and trailers.

What you'll bring to the table as a Retail Nursery Sales Associate:

  • Previous retail sales experience required.
  • Experience operating a point-of-sale (POS) system preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and provide outstanding service.
  • Experience with merchandising, product placement, and visual displays.
  • Knowledge of plants, gardening, outdoor furniture, grills, or outdoor living products is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using technology for sales and inventory systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and move around the retail and nursery areas for extended periods (e.g., 6?8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, or squat to stock merchandise and assist customers.
  • Ability to climb or step onto low platforms or ladders for stocking and merchandising.
  • Ability to lift and carry plants, pots, bags of soil, outdoor décor, and retail merchandise (typical range: 20?50 lbs.).
  • Occasionally assist with heavier items such as furniture and grills with team support.
  • Ability to handle plants, merchandise, furniture accessories, and display materials carefully.
  • Ability to operate point-of-sale systems, pricing equipment, and handheld inventory devices.
  • Ability to distinguish colors and identify plant health, labels, product details, and pricing information.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Comfortable working in a nursery and retail environment, which may include:
  • Outdoor conditions (sun, heat, rain, wind)
  • Temperature-controlled greenhouses
  • Exposure to dirt, water, fertilizers, and plant materials
  • Ability to work safely in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to sustain moderate physical activity throughout the day.
