Location: Leadership Center, Tampa, FL

POSITION OVERVIEW

The manager of Retail Operations provides operational and strategic leadership for GSWCF’s retail functions across the Leadership Center store, three camp store locations, eCommerce, Build-A-Bear experiences, signature events, service unit events, encampments, and other pop-up retail opportunities.

Reporting to the Vice President of Programs & Partnerships, this position is accountable for retail revenue performance, inventory accuracy, merchandise planning, POS and inventory systems, purchasing, eCommerce fulfillment, financial reporting, customer experience, and retail staffing. The manager of Retail Operations develops and executes strategies that integrate retail with Girl Scout programming while supporting organizational revenue goals and delivering a consistent, mission-aligned experience across all retail channels.

ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS

Retail Strategy and Financial Performance

  • Develop and implement an annual retail business plan in partnership with the Vice President of Programs & Partnerships.
  • Develop proposed budgets, revenue goals, sales strategies, and performance measures for all retail channels. Manage Retail operations within the approved budget and alert the Vice President to significant variances, risks, or emerging needs.
  • Monitor sales, expenses, product margins, inventory turnover, and performance against budget.
  • Analyze performance by product, location, channel, program, and event and recommend adjustments.
  • Prepare regular retail performance reports for the Vice President, Finance, and organizational leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to expand retail revenue through programming, merchandise bundles, specialty experiences, eCommerce, and events.

Operations, POS, and Financial Controls

  • Lead daily operations across the Leadership Center store, camp stores, eCommerce, and pop-up retail locations.
  • Serve as the primary operational administrator for POS and inventory management systems.
  • Maintain accurate product, pricing, discount, sales, location, and inventory data.
  • Establish and document procedures for cash handling, deposits, refunds, discounts, transfers, reconciliation, and end-of-day reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve sales, cash, and inventory discrepancies in collaboration with Finance.
  • Ensure monthly retail reporting is accurate and submitted by established deadlines.

Inventory, Purchasing, and Merchandising

  • Manage merchandise planning, purchasing, receiving, transfers, replenishment, returns, cycle counts, and physical inventory.
  • Forecast inventory needs for stores, camps, eCommerce, Build-A-Bear, signature events, encampments, and specialty programs.
  • Manage vendor relationships, purchase orders, delivery timelines, product costs, and merchandise availability.
  • Monitor inventory turnover, shrinkage, damaged merchandise, and aging inventory.
  • Coordinate the disposition of discontinued or retired merchandise, badges, and patches.
  • Develop and maintain visual merchandising standards across all locations.

Programs, Events, and Specialty Revenue

  • Develop merchandise and retail strategies that complement council-led programs and enhance the Girl Scout experience.
  • Lead retail planning and execution for signature events, encampments, summer camps, service unit events, sponsored merchandise, and pop-up shops.
  • Oversee Build-A-Bear operations, including inventory, scheduling, staffing, customer experience, and financial performance.
  • Coordinate event inventory forecasting, transportation, setup, staffing, sales reconciliation, and post-event reporting.
  • Partner with Programs, Camps and Facilities, Customer Care, Membership, MarCom, Finance, Fund Development, and other teams to maximize participation and revenue.

Team Leadership

  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of Retail staff and lead employee onboarding, training, supervision, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop staffing and coverage plans across all retail locations and events.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and consistent operating procedures.
  • Create a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
  • Address employee and customer concerns professionally, tactfully, and confidentially.

Work Schedule & Expectations

  • The regular schedule is primarily Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work will be required periodically to support store coverage, camp operations, pop-up shops, encampments, signature events, inventory activities, and other organizational priorities. The position requires regular travel throughout the council’s service area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Programs and Partnerships and/or management

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Employment with Girl Scouts of West Central Florida is contingent upon successfully passing and maintaining a Level 2 background screening in accordance with Florida law and Council policy. Employees may be required to successfully complete additional background screenings during their employment as required by law or Council policy.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets the Council's automobile insurance requirements. Employment is contingent upon being approved as an authorized driver under the Council's vehicle insurance policy and maintaining that eligibility throughout employment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, retail management, operations, finance, marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of four years experience in retail operations, including experience with inventory management, point-of-sale systems, purchasing, financial reporting, and staff supervision.
  • Experience managing operations across multiple locations, sales channels, or event-based retail environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing budgets, monitoring revenue and expenses, analyzing sales performance, and using data to guide business decisions.
  • Experience supervising, coaching, scheduling, and evaluating employees.
  • Proficiency with POS, inventory management, eCommerce, and business reporting systems.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and with external vendors.
  • Commitment to providing excellent internal and external customer service.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25–35 pounds and able to stand for long periods of time
  • Reliable transportation and telephone required, along with proof of automobile insurance
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the values and principles of the Girl Scout movement; willingness to register as a member of Girl Scouts of the USA


Starting salary range $45,000.00 annualized, commensurate with experience
