Senior Civil Project Manager

Position Overview
You are responsible for managing, assisting, and overseeing design, reporting, and planning for residential, commercial, and public development projects. You serve as the primary client interface, working directly with senior leadership while directing and supporting technical staff. You are expected to demonstrate strong leadership, mentorship, and business development capabilities, while contributing to company growth and profitability.
You will also support team development by contributing to strategic hiring efforts, referring qualified candidates, and supporting onboarding of new employees through your professional network.
Reports to: President or Senior Vice President, with day-to-day oversight from Principal Engineers
Key Responsibilities
Leadership, Management, and Operations
- Lead and oversee design and technical staff across multiple projects
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance leadership to junior engineers and project staff
- Coordinate handoffs between internal departments to ensure efficient project execution
- Identify and allocate project resources to meet schedules and deliverables
- Define roles and responsibilities to maximize staff utilization and efficiency
- Ensure quality control, documentation, and overall project performance
- Manage project schedules, workload forecasting, and team capacity planning
- Support team development by assisting talent acquisition efforts and supporting onboarding of new employees
Business Development, Revenue, and Growth
- Develop new business development opportunities and expand existing client relationships
- Actively market to new and existing clients
- Serve as the primary client contact and maintain strong relationships
- Prepare Statements of Qualifications (SOQs), proposals, and support interviews
- Contribute to revenue growth, market expansion, and profitability goals
Technical Responsibilities
- Oversee and support design in the following areas:
- Site grading
- Road design
- Storm water conveyance, quantity, and quality modeling
- Sewer conveyance system design
- Water conveyance system design
- TESC system design
- Land entitlement and site layout experience preferred
- Specification preparation
- Support land entitlement and site layout planning (preferred)
- Review and contribute to specifications and technical documentation
Skills and Specifications
- Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Strong client communication and relationship management skills
- Solution-oriented mindset with effective problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High proficiency in Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
- Professional, dependable, and results-driven approach
Education, Experience, Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering (Master's degree preferred)
- 10+ years of civil engineering and project management experience
- Private development project experience required; public project experience preferred
- Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) license required; multi-state licensure preferred
- PMP certification is a plus
- Valid Washington State driver's license
