Senior Project Manager - Civil

General Summary

Benderson Development is one of the nation’s largest privately held real estate developers. We are currently seeking a Civil Project Manager to support a growing pipeline of land development projects in the Wildwood, Florida area, where Benderson is actively developing thousands of acres for future commercial and industrial uses.

In this role, you will be involved in all aspects of commercial land development from early planning and preconstruction through site development and final project closeout. Working closely with internal development, construction, and leasing teams, as well as outside engineers and consultants, you will oversee site development contractors responsible for mass grading, utilities, and infrastructure installation across the project. Acting as the developer’s representative, you will guide the civil development process through construction to ensure site work and infrastructure are delivered in alignment with Benderson’s development standards and long-term vision for the property.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple civil and site development projects simultaneously across a large master-planned development area in Wildwood, FL.
  • Oversee site development contractors responsible for mass grading, utilities, roadway, and infrastructure installation, acting as the developer’s representative throughout the construction process.
  • Review and coordinate civil engineering plans to ensure proper site design, utility coordination, and alignment with architectural and development plans.
  • Examine underground utility layouts and coordinate infrastructure including sewer, water, gas, electrical, and stormwater systems to identify and resolve potential conflicts with proposed buildings, parking areas, and site circulation.
  • Identify and pursue value engineering opportunities related to infrastructure design and site construction costs.
  • Develop and maintain strict adherence to company development standards, specifications, and tenant criteria.
  • Review plans and quantity takeoffs to identify cost efficiencies and support budgeting related to site development and infrastructure construction.
  • Coordinate closely with internal development, construction, and leasing teams to ensure site infrastructure supports future warehouse, industrial, and retail development.
  • Solicit and manage outside consultants including civil engineering, surveying, traffic engineering, wetlands, environmental, and other specialty disciplines.
  • Maintain strong communication and performance oversight between consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the development process.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in civil/site construction or land development, preferably with a site contractor, heavy civil contractor, general contractor, or civil engineering firm working on large commercial or institutional projects.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, site development practices, and utility coordination.
  • Hard working, driven, detail-oriented, and technically sound with engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
