Position Title Bookstore Associate (Continuous Posting) Employment Category Part Time Limited Contract Length N/A Expected Work Schedule Variable Anticipated Days Monday - Friday (August & January) Anticipated Hours 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. or 12:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m. Anticipated Hours per Week Up to 25/week Job Description Summary
This is a seasonal limited position to assist in the bookstore with the back-to-school rush in August and January. This position serves as cashier, customer service, assists with processing and pickup of online orders, and other duties as assigned.
Duties
1. Assists customers with textbooks and supplies;
2. Assists with processing and pickup of online orders;
3. Ring sales up on the cash register;
4. Assists with the unpacking, stocking, and processing of textbooks, clothing, supplies, and food items;
5. Maintain bookstore supply and convenience shelves, restock as needed;
6. Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and Welcoming College statement;
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
1. High School Diploma or Equivalency;
2. One year of retail experience;
3. One year of customer service experience;
4. Cash handling experience;
5. Able to stand for long periods of time (minimum of five hours);
6. Experience in a fast-paced environment;
7. Experience working with a demographically diverse population;
8. Able to regularly lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience working in a bookstore;
2. Experience working at a Community College;
3. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language
