Job description

Job Description: An established mid-size law firm is seeking a highly qualified bankruptcy/insolvency attorney with 10+ years of experience to join its practice in Hartford or New Haven. This is a strategic, succession-driven hire offering a clear pathway to increased responsibility and the potential to assume a partial or full book of business over time. This opportunity is well-suited for an attorney who is looking to elevate their practice within a collaborative platform while maintaining a sustainable and balanced professional life. The firm's bankruptcy and insolvency group is involved in a wide range of sophisticated matters, including corporate reorganizations and restructurings, bankruptcy discharge litigation, defense of avoidance actions (preferential and fraudulent transfers), insolvency-related disputes and litigation, and out-of-court workouts, reorganizations, and strategic alternatives. Attorneys in the group represent debtors-in-possession, trustees, and creditors, and approach matters holistically, evaluating bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy solutions such as workouts, reorganizations, and business sales. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of bankruptcy/insolvency experience, including a strong background in corporate restructuring, bankruptcy litigation, and/or related insolvency matters. They will also have a demonstrated ability to manage matters and client relationships, and an interest in long-term growth and contributing to the development of the practice. This is an opportunity to join at the Senior Associate, Counsel, or Junior Partner level depending on experience; step into a succession planning framework with meaningful advancement potential with the opportunity to inherit and grow an existing client base; engage directly with clients and play a lead role in strategy, execution, and relationship management; and work within a lean, collaborative team. In addition to a competitive base salary, bonus potential, comprehensive benefits plan, and a significant opportunity for career advancement, the firm offers a culture grounded in collaboration, respect, and professional excellence. Attorneys benefit from a collegial, team-oriented environment, meaningful access to leadership and decision-makers, and a firm structure that supports long-term career growth without significantly sacrificing life outside of work. This is an environment where attorneys can build and expand a sophisticated practice while remaining engaged in the broader aspects of their lives. For consideration, please provide your resume. Writing sample(s) and a cover letter are appreciated, but not required. All applications are confidential and NOT shared with employers without the candidate's permission.
