Job Title: Mitigation Technician FLSA: Non-Exempt

Reports to Director of Specialty Services

Job Purpose

The Mitigation Technician is responsible for performing water mitigation, content manipulation, fire and smoke cleaning of structure and contents, and remediation of mold and microbial contamination within residential and commercial structures. This position provides initial leadership in emergency situations and support on general restoration and structural cleaning jobs while providing excellent customer service and representation of the company.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Provides on-site emergency services for water damage to alleviate the water problem and minimize further damage to the property.
  • Constructs containment systems and critical barriers.
  • Operates air scrubbers, dehumidifiers, and other mitigation equipment.
  • Executes demolition, often with precision.
  • Monitors moisture and humidity and performs dry checks over the appropriate period of time.
  • Performs specialized cleaning such as mold remediation.
  • Safely and responsibly transports equipment and supplies in company owned vehicles.
  • Cleans and maintains company owned vehicles on a daily basis.
  • Maintains appropriate and accurate inventory of company and customer property.
  • Provides specialized knowledge in the restoration field, including water damage, contents cleaning, mold remediation, etc.
  • Has a strong knowledge of use of chemicals and other work hazards.
  • Is on call on a rotating basis to respond to emergency situations.
  • Works occasional overtime to when necessary to deliver project on time and with excellence.
  • Communicates clearly and openly with Director of Specialty Services, Estimators, and Team Leads.
  • Shows abilities to work independently and with a team.
  • Participates in continuing education and training to hone and develop skills and safety practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING/EDUCATION GUIDELINES

Experience in mitigation and construction restoration. Certification with IICRC a plus.

LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid Wisconsin state driver's license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess:

Ability to stand, squat, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, walk, push, pull, crouch and crawl for long periods of time

Ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, scaffoldings, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects, from 50-100 lbs., necessary to perform job functions

Ability to work in high and/or tight places

Maintain balance in all situations

See and hear well with or without correction to avoid safety hazards to themselves and others

Coordinate movement with eyes, hands, fingers, and feet

Ability to work in various weather conditions including outdoor and outdoor exposure to heat and cold

Ability to work in varying job conditions from clean to dirty environments and other unsanitary conditions, with provision of appropriate protective clothing and equipment

Accurate vision to read printed materials and a computer screen

Ability to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various customers and meeting sites

Ability to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone
