Job description

Overview: Under the supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Services Medical Director and Department Director, the Respiratory Therapist performs direct patient care to patients in all aspects of respiratory care according to the physicians orders/approved protocols, with consideration given to the age of the patient. The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities in the cardiopulmonary system. The clinical work includes: Setting up and managing mechanical ventilation. Emergency care. Assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation and intubations. Monitoring physiological responses to therapy. Educating patients and their families about their conditions. Teaching appropriate disease management techniques. Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate of accredited associateโ€˜s degree respiratory program. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Please indicate the appropriate operator designation on the Request for Personnel (RFP) form at the time a RFP is submitted to post the position. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist in the State of Florida.
