Job Description:
Orbital Engineering is seeking a Business Development Associate to support our Baton Rouge, LA Region. The nature of the position involves executing sales strategies, initiating contact with existing and potential clients, identifying customer needs, and selling client-specific services to meet those needs. This is a hybrid position, and candidates must be local to the Baton Rouge Area.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Business Development and Key Account Management
  • Identify, develop, and manage new and existing strategic business development opportunities within gulf coast target markets.
  • Make direct sales calls to target account plant and corporate personnel including but not limited to executives, engineering and project managers, operations managers, environmental and safety managers.
  • Present company profile to client personnel to communicate the firm's core competency, capabilities, resources, past project experience, specialized capabilities, and competitive advantage.
  • Plan and organize selling opportunities utilizing breakfast/lunch/dinner meetings, seminars/trade shows, social events (golfing, sporting events, concerts, etc.).
  • Participate in annual preparation of the regional office business plan, which includes a sales forecast, percent of time projections, new and existing market analysis and overall office plan.
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates to the firm's management team
  • Prepare sales literature for direct sales calls. This includes brochures, resumes, relevant project and company profile information.
  • Utilize various databases to develop target prospect lists as well as track prospects through the sales cycle.
  • Plan and organize various marketing events such as trade shows, golf outings, and association meetings.
  • Bi-weekly and monthly reporting of sales & marketing activities via sales report.
  • Quarterly reporting of Key Account Strategies forecast results via business plan goals and objectives.
  • Annual presentations of Key Account Strategies to Executive Management staff.

Minimum Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience is engineering design and business development.
  • Candidate must demonstrate strong communication and relationship management skills.

  • Candidate must be willing to travel within the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with heavy industrial including technical experience, with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding specific goals/objectives.
  • Experience promoting engineering services to heavy industry clients
