Key Responsibilities:

• Provide medical care for patients with Traumatic Brain Injury within the Neurology specialty, including examination, diagnosis, and treatment of outpatients.
• Offer evaluations and recommendations for neurology-related issues in the referral area via phone consultations, telemedicine, and assessment of air evacuation patients as necessary.
• Prepare and dictate medical summaries for medical retention boards.
• Draft physical profiles, medical evaluation boards, fitness for duty assessments, and other relevant documentation as required.
• Supervise, instruct, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

To qualify, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. This includes both paid and unpaid experiences, such as volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, community, student, social). All qualifying experiences, including volunteer work, will be considered. Your resume should clearly detail your relevant experiences; if you are qualifying based on education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirements for Physician (Neurology):

• Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited institution in the U.S. or Canada. This degree must be recognized by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, or the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation.
• If the degree is from a foreign medical school, it must demonstrate equivalency to accredited U.S. institutions, validated by permanent certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, unrestricted license as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
• Graduate Training: Candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited institution.

Residency Training:

Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited residency in Neurology, along with equivalent experience and training totaling at least four years. Note that experience cannot substitute for the required residency training in this specialty.

The salary determination process will commence after the acceptance of the initial offer, involving the Activity Compensation Panel to establish your starting salary based on base pay and market pay, which will be communicated once approved.

Foreign Education:

For candidates using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, it is necessary to provide evaluation credentials from a recognized organization that specializes in interpreting foreign educational programs, confirming that the education is equivalent to that obtained in an accredited U.S. program. Alternatively, full credit must be granted for courses taken at a U.S. accredited institution.
