Summary:
The Research Assistant provides support to assist in developing a comprehensive historically contextualized information dictionary within the NMMSS as they relate to the DOE/NRC reporting forms. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, research abilities and strong communication skills are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
- For each element, the dictionary shall document:
- The current field name, definition, and operational application
- The chronological history of changes in application, definition, or use, including effective date ranges
- The governing reference documents for each historical period, including document name, version, date of issuance, and applicable page references
- Analytical notes documenting contextual information, interdependencies with related fields, and interpretive guidance necessary for accurate historical analysis
- Retired information fields with full historical documentation and mapping to successor elements
- Research all available historical resources, including:
- NMMSS system records and documentation
- NMMSS historical archive
- DOE and NRC guidance documents
- US Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information
- NRC ADAMA Public Search
- Create MS Excel workbooks
The pay range for this position is $20 - $25/hour
This position will be posted for 3 days or until filled.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook and PDF
- Ability to research documents

Working Environment
Generally, indoor office environment with frequent interruptions, often noisy, high paced atmosphere with tendencies of having an extremely heavy workload. While outdoors may be subject to site conditions, changes in temperature, weather conditions and noise levels.
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper, reaching with hands and arms for items above and below desk level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the office with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 2 hours; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds such as small office equipment, files, stacks of paper, reference and other materials.
Work is generally performed in an office setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination, and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8am-5pm; 40 hours/week or as business needs
