Job description

Required Qualification: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Medical Science or a closely related field. Three (3) years of research experience in Medical Science, to include at least one year of research experience following attainment of a Doctoral degree or foreign equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments, analyze and interpret complex data, and troubleshoot technical challenges throughout a research project.
• Proficiency in histological and imaging methods, including tissue processing, staining, fluorescent or confocal microscopy, and image analysis.
• Background in developing or utilizing injury, hypoxic, or other experimental tissue-injury models.
• Capability in evaluating cell-biomaterial interactions (cell viability, growth, and function) within engineered scaffolds.
• Experience with specialized cell culture techniques, including stem cells, cardiomyocytes, or primary cell isolation.
• Expertise in working with natural and synthetic polymers, nanofibers, and other biomaterials relevant to tissue engineering.
• Proficiency in scaffold characterization techniques, including SEM, FTIR, mechanical testing, and surface analysis.
Brief Description Of Duties:
Stony Brook University has a Research Scientist position available to do research in the department of Surgery, Plastics division. The incumbent will independently design research and ensure that all research protocols follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will serve as the a scientist in the Lab.
Duties:
• Plan, design and implement research experiments in the field of Surgery to achieve research objective(s). Preparation of papers for publications, presentation of results in scientific conferences, workshops and seminars. Oversee the preparation of grant proposals and application of grants. Collaborate with members of scientific communities, both nationally and internationally.
• Supervise, plan, organize and evaluate the activities of others including postdoctoral associates, research support positions and graduate assistants. Maintain all laboratory records consistent with University policy
• Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
