College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.
Job Summary
The Department of Urology at Augusta University is seeking a Research Assistant to support implementation of community-based health programs and research studies led by the Principal Investigator. Responsibilities include coordinating program activities, assisting with participant recruitment and follow-up, and supporting research operations across ongoing studies, database creation and maintenance, coordination of multicenter observational studies, screening and enrolling participants in prospective clinical trials, and assisting with multiple retrospective research projects. This position will work closely with the Physician Principal Investigator to ensure successful execution of research projects and adherence to study timelines and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Operations
Coordinate day-to-day operations for community-based health programs and ongoing research studies, including scheduling study activities and program sessions, coordinating with clinical teams and community partners, organizing outreach events, managing study timelines, and ensuring successful implementation of study protocols across multiple projects.
Research Participants
Assist with recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow-up of research participants through clinical sites, community partners, and outreach events. Maintain communication with participants and ensure completion of study activities and surveys.
Research Data
Administer surveys and collect research data for program evaluation and longitudinal studies. Maintain study databases, manage data entry and quality assurance, and ensure accurate documentation of study activities and participant records.
Biospecimen Coordination
Assist with coordination of biospecimen collection, labeling, processing, storage, and tracking in accordance with study protocols and institutional policies
IRB Submissions
Assist with preparation and submission of IRB protocols, amendments, continuing reviews, and regulatory documentation. Maintain study regulatory binders and ensure compliance with institutional and federal research requirements.
Multi Center Observational Studies & Clinical Trials
Assist with coordination of multi center observational studies and prospective clinical trials, including communication with collaborating institutions and supporting study implementation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research or clinical area.

Salary Range: $17.88/hourly - $21.63/hourly
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
